Is it common that they are roadmapping that they will "provide affected employees with one year of supplemental unemployment benefits in combination with any eligible state unemployment benefits, equaling 74% of their pay, followed by one year of transition assistance. Health care coverage also will continue for two years."?

It reads to me as though they really don't plan on giving these people their jobs back. This seems like a permanent reduction in headcount, not a furlough.

When interest rates skyrocketed the housing and auto industries felt the pinch harder than anyone else. We all know about sales being off and the 15K+ 2023 JTs sitting on lots until Spring this year. We also know about the boneheaded managerial decisions of Stellantis. What doesn't get as much play is that the Feds put their thumb on the scale via regulatory changes, thereby compelling automakers to invest heavily in EV tech when sales were heading down and rates were climbing. That plus a few billion annually in increased CAFE fines are all compounding effects. I hope Stellantis can withstand the storm but right now it's not looking great.

Keep in mind-- I'm not an anti-EV person, we're considering one next year if the market turns around and things get better. If not we hold off till the following but it's definitely on the radar.
