Just got a quote from eastcoast gear supply to put 4.88s in my Mojave. This seems more inline if i wanted a locker added not just a straight regear.

12hrs for labor seems a little high. i would think it's closer to 8 hours, 4hrs per axle, worst case. The rest is material costs. You would still be looking at $2700 for the work.
I could stomach that. I'm this " " close to pulling "i got a buddy that'll do that for a pack of beer" but i'd feel more confident in a professional job as long as I'm not getting shafted on the price.

Ask politely if that is a hard 12hrs or is that is a max # of hours and it might be less. Ask if 6hrs per axle is a mistake. 2/3's of a day per axle seems like a lot of time.
good idea. Thanks

It can certainly be done for less, unfortunately not your coast but Rebel 4X4 advertises 1799 (total) for both axles.

They're is California though.

Does seem steep is all I'm saying.

Prices are just all over. I've seen shops over the years, back in my Toyota days that were in the 1500 to 1800 ball park.

Of course they're are just as many that charged double that. Same parts, mostly Nitro at that time since they're local.

Just shop the shops.

Just ask if they've done them, I don't feel they're a high risk of failure task as long as the tech has done more than 3 or 4.

Sadly this is on par with the current rate in the DMV. I saw your DM earlier......but got distracted with work.

My local shop is about $3700 for parts and labor

Sadly, gotta pay to play..... that's the game

I just spent the last couple weeks installing my lift to avoid the ridiculous labor rates.......now on the hook for an alignment now

Got 3 quotes from local shops last summer for 5.13's. $3,500, $3,600, and $2,400.

Had to drive an extra 15 minutes into Idaho for the lower quote.

Told them I wanted Revolution gears, they told me "That's all we install."

Double bonus.

Again, sadly, labor rates are not going to drop.......and will only go up. So eat the shitsandwich now and move on.

Just talked to a local shop owner that's doing my alignment this week.......labor rates are only going up after the new year.......it's the only way shops can retain talent and stay in business.
