There's still the Tradesman w/power wagon package that still retains the typical 2500HD payload. I think only the dedicated PW truck is reduced. Otherwise its closer to 3700lbs IIRC.
I didn't know about this, I knew about the PW Rebel which was not really a PW, but that is interesting. It must not be as capable as the dedicated PW, but it does retain the front locker and swaybar disconnect it looks like. That is pretty cool.

This is not a gladiator hate thread. I love my Mojave. Ordered it new in '21. It's been trouble free. It's taken me to some great places. I'm a big guy at 6'4" and some stupid number of lbs. I never felt cramped until I finally had my knee replaced last year and let's just say the range of motion is not ideal. The Power Wagon is obviously more spacious plus it has a front locker and e-swaybar. Oh and a 392. Gas mileage is not a whole lot different between the two. Even with all this it's a want and not a need. I don't do car payments so that's also not an issue. Help me decide to just stay with my Mojave. I'm truly torn.

I have had both the Wagin us more comfortable for sure might make the rides more enjoyable....with that said I have 2 Jt,'s both diesel and wouldn't trade either for a Power Wagon lol

For some mission envelopes, the Power Wagon is just the ticket. For much of my driving, it could go either PW or Gladiator.

I'm torn; I grew up with Simon & Simon, so I have a soft spot in my head for the Power Wagon. But, from a practical truck standpoint ... I go Gladiator; I'm too old to help my buddies move for payment in beer and pizza.

I traded my 2019 Power Wagon for a 2022 Gladiator Rubicon. I loved the PW and I miss the heck out of it sometimes. It was much more comfortable to drive on long road trips and the interior was superior to the Gladiator‘s. Gas mileage was @14mpg compared to the JT at @16mpg with 35” Nitto Grapplers. The PW was huge. Not easy to maneuver in tight parking lots. I always felt safer in the big PW. The main reason I traded it in was because it was always in the shop for maintenance/warranty issues. Mostly electronic warning sensors lights going on to service the rear axles, sway bar disconnect, lockers…The dealer even had to install a new front sway bar which would have cost me @$6,000 if it hadn’t been under warranty. I just couldn’t get over the maintenance issues and the concerns that once it was out of warranty I wouldn’t be able to afford it. The JT is more fun to own. I can take the doors and top off and find just about any upgrade/parts I want. I can fit it in my garage and it’s easier to clean. It truly suits my lifestyle better. If you need a big truck for work or for the family get the PW. Just keep you fingers crossed you don’t have the mechanical issues I had.

I didn't read through all of this, but my only problem with the PW, is getting a 2500 Ram and the payload being less than my Gladiator. It can technically tow more, but with no payload you'll have a hard time doing anything meaningful. The whole concept of a heavy offroader is ridiculous, but Ford has a much better deal with the Tremor actually being useful as a heavy duty pickup that is an okay offroader. So that's what I bought.

All PW’s have a compromised payload… it’s due to the softer springs, the disconnecting sway bar and the aritculink front suspension that is built for flex. However, I have a similar or even higher payload than most 1/2 tons and retain a 3/4 ton frame and drivetrain. If we both run max payload and/or towing who would feel more confident?

RE: tremor being a better option, the Ram equivalent is an HD rebel not a power wagon. No other full size truck can go or do what a power wagon can do, it’s the Rubicon of the heavy duty truck world. It sucks in places it maybe shouldn’t because it is better in places most people wouldn’t think is possible. Obviously, it won’t succeed in tight trails, but neither would any other HD truck. If it fits, it wheels.

Here’s my payload sticker, a tradesman fwiw.

Here’s another interesting note. Compare my Ram cost per mile VS my JTRD, about 2 cents cheaper per mile in terms of purely gas. Albeit, Ram is stock and the JT was on a 2 inch lift + 37’s. Same size is much smaller, but interesting nonetheless. The ram we named Beth. Sample size is only about 10% of what I had the JT for.

The door sticker I posted is from a PW, my Gladiator stickers at 1400lbs. I absolutely agree about the running gear you still get the SFA and all that it's a sweet truck if you are going to actually offroad it. If you don't really need it to work, it makes the most sense as an offroader for sure. But I rent travel trailers in the summers up here as well. My F350 Tremor has a payload of over 4k pounds, bumper pulls 18k+ etc. I gave up articulation, relying on a LSD instead of a locker, and extra cash over a PW. The Tremor has enough to make it work, and it can still do a lot of truck work. The Rebel is a good option if you want the Cummins, but none of the actual PW hardware that make it a PW. The Ford is a happy medium for sure. But it is expensive, and with the financial problems Chrysler is having they do make good deals, that factors in as well.

Agreed, having a tool for each job is ideal, I can’t quite swing that yet. I thought the JT would be the happy place between Jeep and truck… just didn't hold true for me. I missed the Jeep once on some tighter trails, but the PW does just fine really. Even being a tradesman, the interior is on par maybe even a tad nicer than the cloth JTR… but maybe I’m just talking up what I have vs had.

I will probably wait and see what Stellantis does with prices this year. I'm hearing they're going to drop by 30% which would put them closer to what they should be. If that's the case maybe I'll order a tradesman PW and have both. Retirement is two years away, I'd like to have both going into that phase of my life.

That's the rumor and God I hope it happens. Making a 100k $ truck now 65k would be huge, would definitely jumpstart sales, and Ford and Chevy would have to respond. It would suck for people like me who bought into the crazy market, but I keep my ordered vehicles forever anyway, I hope it happens.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that the PW‘s 6.4 Hemi engine requires mid grade gasoline which is on average .50 cents more per gallon than the Gladiator’s regular grade gasoline. Also, the PW is made in Mexico whereas the JT is made in the USA if that matters to you as it does to me.

Are you talking $100k PW? Sounded like you were talking about $100K Gladiator.

My Gladiator Rubicon I paid 43k for 5+ years ago. Chrysler is rumored to be doing a 35% msrp price reduction across all brands and models, that's the rumor. I was talking about Ram specifically, I hope you can't spec a 100k dollar Gladiator.

MSRP was about $72k on our 2024 Mojave X back in March 2024 (in Pennsylvania). I don’t know what that boiled down to after trade-in and several negotiations back-n-forth…..
