I bought my 2024 Jeep Gladiator Moja in August of 2024. It came with Gorilla Glass, which I heard was more durable. Since then it cracked in multiple places, mainly from rocks kicked up on the highway. I am trying to have the windshield replaced using USAA and Safelite. They have called the dealer, and were told that glass is on back order, with no ETA. I live in Charleston, SC, and wanted to find out if anyone else has heard of this shortage? Not sure if this was regional? I have been waiting 2 months now, so I figured I would reach out to you guys to see if you have heard anything.

I would just get regular glass.

From what I could find it looks like these are the part numbers for Gorilla glass windshields - top one without nav/FCW and bottom one with nav and frontal collision warning system. Some websites show them available and let you add them to the cart for checkout (but could be inaccurate), and some show out of stock, but at least this might help you call around to check. I have the Gorilla glass too and just to be extra safe I already put Windshield Defense film on it in case it helps. Hopefully between the two, it will reduce breakage.

That sounds like a good idea. Hoping to get the Gorilla again, I might add the defense film like you have set up as well. I have the one with Nave and ACC, so thank you for posting both! I will run this by Safelite as well.

First time mine was replace 1-1/2 years ago and safelite had the gorilla glass. Just had it replaced by safelite in the beginning of the month and the only immediate option was normal aftermarket Windshield. Maybe by next time they’ll have the gorilla glass again. but since my insurance gives me a free windshield a year, I suppose I really can’t complain.

Hoping to give the Gorilla another try
It isn't "break proof" but is said, by FoMoCo and others, to be 60% more resistant to breakage. In other words - it doesn't solve it, but cuts the breaks by over half.
I went through two windshields on my 2020, and had some chips in my 2022 windshield Gorilla Glass, but it never cracked.
That's not proof of anything, really, but.............

Part of the issue with the 2024s and later is that the windshield is actually different - antenna in the glass. It's not the same as 23 and prior.

For me - insurance covers it, so if it breaks, it breaks, and I have a deductible.
So I don't want it to break, but I'm well covered if it does.

For occupant safety reasons, I will not give up my Gorilla Glass easily. I wanted it, I got it, and in big part because it's a hell of a lot safer in accidents.

It might be more resistant to cracks, but you can replace the windshield with regular glass 3x or more before you hit the price of the gorilla glass. Replacing with regular glass is less than my deductible.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but My Gladdy had a PGW (?) cover on mine and has an ultraviolet screen built in. I have had pretty good size rocks hit the windshield and not even the slightest pit. That and have had tree branches and other unknown stuff hit it and still looks like new. Just a suggestion.

Some states require a no-deductible glass replacement …

Not with my insurance, and again - the hassle of replacements, and the safety issues are my motivation. You can do what you want since you are the passenger in your vehicle, but for me, my wife and family - it's Gorilla Glass after the studies I've seen.

One reason I traded my 2020 for a 22 was the GG - and of course the SelecTrac..........

Maybe your insurance isn't all that good? I don't know, doesn't matter - but no, I can't replace it 3 times or even for less than my deductible.

I keep my deductible high because it's easier to pay out of pocket for anything under ~$5k, not deal with the hassle and keep my rates low. I pay $180 for 6 months of full coverage with $10k additional of upgrade coverage for things like the suspension and wheels/tires. Replacing the windshield is $299 at Safelite, that's not even worth the hassle of getting on the phone over.

As for safety, you must be looking at the gorilla glass funded studies because everything I have seen says it's the same as a regular windshield in an accident.

You've got your mind set on GG being of zero advantage at all, so there's nothing going to change that.
Again, you do whatever, it's YOUR Jeep, your face.

You have a 2023 - bet you can't buy the same windshield I have in plain glass for that money. Again, we're at apples and oranges here. Not only is the glass for ACC/FCW different, but the 2024 has the antenna in the glass.

You can't compare insurance prices from one state to another. Doesn't work.

- this is all for others lurking or looking in from other places -

It's not the same as other windshields on the inside layer - the layer inside facing the occupants.. GG doesn't shatter into shards like regular windshields can.
There are a number of YT videos showing what happens when it's hit hard.

GG is lighter, thinner - and defrosts faster. I've seen that for myself in my Jeeps.
