I didn't see a thread for this yet.
Stellantis pauses Jeep Gladiator production due to parts issue
Stellantis NV paused production of Jeep Gladiator pickups in Toledo this week as it works to "align parts inventory with demand," the automaker said.

The Toledo Assembly Complex's south plant that builds the Gladiator on two shifts has been down since Monday. Stellantis "will continue to monitor the situation to assess whether further action is required, but the plant is expected to resume normal production the week of May 5," a statement from spokesperson Ann Marie Fortunate said. The Toledo facility also makes the Jeep Wrangler.

My guess is that it’s both a demand issue and a supply issue.

honestly, I would be happy as a clam, with more basic creature features ( don’t need a 40ā€ screen on the dash ) while retaining the off road awesomeness.

in a moment of ironic thinking, can you imagine if we have another round of supply issues with chips, and screens, preventing the sale of a perfectly good vehicle, just b/c a screen couldn’t show the display feed from a reverse camera? I like them and all, even though a great portion of drivers on the road never had that in the previous half of their life.

That would never happen, there is nothing on the horizon that would affect our global economy.

I’m assuming this had absolutely nothing related to the storms that ripped through the north east, with 70+ mph winds. ;-)

heck, the news outlets are inconsistent on the definition of a derecho, and some say that it was one, and some say that it wasn’t .

I would think it's more likely due to the fact the good old usa doesn't do much production of consumer/automotive grade electronic components.

The Jeep Gladiator line at Toledo South has had a few shutdowns recently. From July 8 to August 19, 2024, the plant paused for about six weeks to retool, cover the summer break, and adjust to slower sales. Then, starting September 16, production stopped again—this time to prep for the hybrid model and clear out leftover 2024 inventory. That pause dragged into October.

Funny that the July '24 closure was for a "retool" for the 4xe...

How many ’parts’ come from countries with tariffs? Or…. Parts that are made here in the U.S…. Where do the raw materials come from? The Tariff thing is a mess….

Yep; I’ve been trying to figure out the actual impact for the US CPI. I can see impacts for chip makers, AMZN, WMT, and a few others. Estimates are all over the place.

and didn’t Mazda just outright pull production from one of their lines in the last few weeks?

No Wrangler shutdown? Sounds like a sales issue.
Yep. Short on parts that are common between the two vehicles, so they get prioritized to the one with better sales figures.

I can’t say much about the auto industry…. I work for printing industry (catalogs). Aside from Tariffs on the actual paper to make the catalogs…. the customers (of whom we make catalogs for) are cancelling and/or modifying their catalog production & mailings because the products they sell are produced overseas / china. They’re scrambling….and nothing it clear as exactly what’s going to happen and when. It’s a trickle down affect …..

I checked back on my MORONEY sticker and it read: For vehicles in this carline
61 % parts from US & Canada, 21 % from Mexico Which leaves 18 % from ????
No clue how the US/Canada parts are divided. So yes, an already pricey truck
will get even more expensive and perhaps scarce if parts don't materialize
