I wonder if a pedal monster would help with the surge? I've been thinking about one lately.

Also, anyone know why towing is not recommended on the street tune?

Stage 1 and the trans tune make taking off very snappy... way too sensitive. I was also having some weird behavior towing my travel trailer, made me nervous. I have reprogrammed my TCM with the stock tune for now ... I am awaiting a response to my email from EOC, which is taking forever.
I'm interested in what they say, if they ever answer. Please post their reply.

Just finished a stage 2 install. full exhaust and PCM. Pulling the OEM exhaust was a bear. now that it is out the new plumbing was easy to install. Needed to keep one bracket from the old pipes to hang the new.

Bought the catch can option too.... ran it for a week and all hell broke loose. Codes, codes, codes. and a limp home mode stuck in 3rd gear.

Comms with EoC with absolutely suck. their attitude could use an adjustment as well. Email trail trying to fix these issues ended with take it to a qualified technician and let them diagnose.

The problem was the catch can and associated wire extension. rerouted the plumbing to OEM and moved the sensor back and low and behold the codes can now be cleared..... the extension harness caused the Canbus to go nutz.

Trans tune..... I am not confident that after all this to have them supply a trans tune. unless it is reversable.

I wasn’t impressed with the tune… when towing I saw odd behavior… it short shift from 2nd to 3rd kinda lugging in 3rd. Then down shift from 4th to 2nd really ramping up the RPM (2800-3000rpm). At low speeds I’d see the cluster flicker between 1 and 2 and also flicker between 2 and 3 (I have the setting to show the gear number next to “D” on the cluster… when the numbers were flickering, it was holding gear and I’d press the gas and it would quickly upshift, it just didn’t feel right …

remember that was when towing, when NOT towing, the behavior was much better, and oddly I feel like it hangs onto 2nd gear a little long, whereas towing it quickly upshifts from second.

regardless of towing or now, first gear is JUMPY, very touchy … it makes the truck feel sporty …

of course I sent a detailed email to EOC and no reply … yet. The typical 1 week turnaround is now passing about 2 …

The tune is completely reversible, I used the tuner and reloaded the factory transmission tune … I may or may not ever reload the EOC trans tune, we’ll see what EOC says.

I would be interested in their reply if you get one at all. Hardware causes some real issues as does vehicle setup. I get the whole idea of tuning the trans to give bumped up clutch pressures and shift patterns to help fuel efficiency but what if it goes wrong..... support is the key... these guys don't do support very well.

Going to call GDE to see if they have a trans tune.

This is exactly why I'm not doing a full delete and only going stage 1 with a spare factory cloned ECU that I can swap out in a pinch. My last diesel I had a full delete and ran into fueling issues at higher elevations while 1000 miles from home. My tuner worked with me during my trip to send a few updates to keep me going. Had he been unresponsive I would have been stuck with a vehicle running poorly and unable to make it over any passes.

Yea, I got a stage 1 PMC, stage 2 and a stock PCM. Ideally I’d go stage 2, but wanted to cruise in the stage 1 to build confidence… I’ll figure out when to go stage 2 eventually.

swapping back to stock exhaust isn’t that big a deal, however if you go all out and remove the 2 EGR coolers, you’re asking for a world of pain. After warranty, my coolers will be tossed and fully committed to stage 2.

They do, not sure it’s compatible with the EOC tune, but then again, I’m not sure why there would be an incompatibility

yup, but they are not doing deletes anymore....
They can't, it's not their fault they got fined into playing by the rules. Some of us live in states that still test emissions but want the best EPA compliant tune we can run, and that's gde. Eoc/mr won't pass in emissions states.

Has anyone purchased a pre-tuned ECU from EOC? If I were to buy one of theirs, is it as simple as removing my stock ECU and installing theirs? I dont plan on doing the trans tune, at least not yet.
