I turn 60 tomorrow and have had a lot of vehicles with a lot of tires and I know if sounds a bit like pandering, but I literally noticed a night and day difference between the two tires.

I know that people can get a bit biased about “their favorite brand” and will say it’s the best even if it maybe isn’t. My wife got tired of me saying, for the first three days, “You feel that? It just feels like it’s gliding on rails!” I was very impressed with the difference because it was actually noticeable.
From scooters to pretty much Anything with rubber tires on it…a fresh set of tires on any of them feels like a brand new sunshiny day…

I also use Discount Tire for my vehicles, when my Gladiator didn't have a spare (previous owner sold it with the other wheels) and I was pulling a trailer across the state in 3 days. I dropped by, they found me a wheel and the next day I was on my way. I picked up my Toyo's from Discount Tire a few months ago - great tire. I'm headed over Tuesday for new wheels for by CT5-V (not a Jeep ;)). I used Discount Tire for my 13JKU and it's down in LA with my son. Great company.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting the Geolanders myself, and I actually went with Pirelli Scorpions and I have been very happy with them… Super quiet, look great, and I got a set of them for 350 apiece Canadian!

Now, as far as your fears and insecurities… Wow, I gotta recommend Zoloft actually! Haha

I didn't have a great experience when I went to Discount Tire.. Walked in to a huge show room and there was not one tire of any kind anywhere. I told the salesman I wanted to look at some tires and he said I needed to make an appointment. I went someplace else.

I suppose you’re right. I guess I’ll stop checking other people’s work that gets performed on my Jeep.

Understood. I’m not defending them here, but I just don’t think that’s their business model because they basically sell every tire brand/style/size. I will admit that I miss the days when you could walk into a Big O and look at all the tire displays.

I guess that is just the world that has been created by online shopping; fewer places you can walk into and look at/touch stuff.

It sucks that not everyone has had good experiences with Discount Tire. I have been using Discount Tire for almost 40 years. I can’t tell you how many sets of tires I have bought from them. Have there been hiccups over the years, of course. They have always taken care of me, and never left me feeling like they didn’t care or that I was getting screwed. I will continue to buy from them, unless they give me a reason not to.

I think you both are not giving enough credit to the fact that they made it right. And as far as "never going back to them ever again" goes, I'd run out of places to take my business at that rate. I think the fact that they did the right thing actually solidifies that they are the right company to be getting my business.

I'm sorry that you guys feel the way you do and I hope that you don't have someone else treat you that way when you make a mistake before giving you a chance to correct your mistake.
I applaud you for being 'accepting' and 'nice' about the whole thing. You've gotta make it feel good FOR YOU and not everyone else.

I see it differently......and perhaps, that's because my husband is a part owner of a small Manufacturing company (they make circuit boards). You either get it right.... or you don't succeed. There's a lot of competition out there and what you (as a business) can't provide correctly... Someone else is more than willing to take your business.

So, although they did it right............ YOU had to force them to 'make it right'.
Chances are.... If everyone *looked the other way*, they'd never fix their processes and things would never get fixed.

And truly after 40 years of positive experience, it would probably have to be one egregious act or a series of them to probably change your mind.

WOW!!! I'd hate to ever make a mistake around you...

I'm not trying to make it "feel good FOR (ME)". I am owning my part of the error and when that error was brought to the attention of the service provider they also immediately corrected the error without "(ME having) to force them to 'make it right'. There was no forcing. There was no "speaking to the manager". There was no court injunction. No years long lawsuit. I showed the first person I talked to my receipt, he looked it up in the computer and essentially said "yeah, you're right, let's fix this'.

If I might be so bold, maybe you ought to go ask your husband if his company has ever shipped the wrong part, shorted an order, overed an order or sent a defective order that the customer had to call about. I'll bet his company (trusted, but) verified the concern/complaint and then made it right. That's how you run a business. Honest mistakes are part of life; how you handle them is where true character comes in.

And believe me, I understand business. Before I retired, I oversaw aspects of 341 manufacturing locations globally and had a budget close to $400MM annually. Customer Service is made up of 2 parts a) getting it right the first time and b) failing that, bending over backwards to correct not getting it right the first time. That's how you get and keep customers.

You are correct. I know they’re a big corporation, which a lot of people hate on now. Thave always done a great job. In my opinion, they also have more tires and wheels to choose from than most other places. Another major plus, they will definitely match prices, but it has been my experience that they will beat the prices of other companies.

Yeah, I don’t disagree with you. That was what ran through my head while I was beating myself up. Do they own some blame here? Sure. But ultimately, who was responsible for ensuring that the tires I paid for got installed?

I can guarantee that if I had started this thread ranting about how the shop screwed me, the thread would now be full of people blaming me for the whole thing…and they would be right.

Truly, the whole event could have swung the other way and the service team could have said I had removed a brand new tire and stuck an old one back on just to get a free tire; but they didn’t.

Look, I don’t want this to be a whole negative diatribe about the “evil corporate pirates”. I really wanted to share a positive experience where I made a mistake and in spite of that they stood up, owned it and made it right. That level of customer service can be hard to find that nowadays
I agree!

It’s not about making mistakes…..It’s business.

Around here, there are so many places you can go to get tires mounted. If one business can’t seem to get their shit together, guess what? Those other businesses would be glad to get the business. I’m happy to go to whoever has the best quality and the best service. It’s about CHOICES….. We have the ability to choose who we want to spend our $ with.

Yes…his company owns up to his mistakes… but that doesn’t mean the customers will come back for repeat business, even if you kissed their ass to make it right. That doesn’t mean anything. The customers will do what they feel is right for them. Mistakes STING (in the customers eyes). It’s also about TRUST. Can you TRUST a business to NOT screw something up again?? Do you want to take that chance?
