I’m thinking about buying a Wrangler. Anybody have one?

I’d appreciate any insight on ride, road noise and power.

I’ve read mostly praise for the 2.0 4cyl turbo. Seems like that should be plenty for a small vehicle, but interested in any and all opinions.

I have a 2 door. So, I'm not sure that counts.

We have a JLU (4 door) 4xe - the plug-in hybrid.
It has the 2.0 turbo for the gas power part. I don't mind the sound - pretty typical of engines like that, and yeah, the 3.6 doesn't sound like a throaty V8 either.

Can't really compare power-wise because we only run in hybrid mode.
I guess I'll have to try on battery save sometime to force it to run on the gas engine and not the battery/electric as much and see how it does.

Noise - comparable to a Gladiator. Road noise will vary with tires, wind, speed and if you have a headliner or not.

Me, I love the thing.

Both my wife and I have big lifts and 37s. Hers is a 24 my JTOD is a 22. Night and day difference in power, I have the diesel she’s got the penta crap. Mine rides better on the highway and hers can turn circles around my poor radius.

I was planning to get a 2 door. I don’t need a lot of cargo space and planned to remove the rear seat anyway.

Will I wish I’d gotten a 4 door?

Hey by the way…

It’s looking like I may need to order the Wrangler to get the features I want since Mojito Green is less common than other colors.

A sales guy told me that when special ordering, the 2 dr Wrangler can only be ordered with a hardtop. Anybody know if that’s accurate?

I have a 2018 with a 3.6/manual. Love it. I have the Mopar lift with 35´s and it rides a smooth as a Tahoe. The 3.6 has plenty of power, especially with the auto. The 2.0 feels stronger off the line and at lower rpm, where you use it more. But at high rpm the V6 has the advantage. But they are very close.

The Wrangler (mine is a 4 door) is a bit more maneuverable off-road than the Gladiator due to the shorter wheelbase. The 2 door is insane. It can turn on a dime.

Just my 2 cents.

If you don´t need the 4 doors, the two door is a total blast. My first was a 2 door YJ that was stone age compared to the JL. But I loved every minute of driving it.

When I retire, I might pick up a used 2 door Rubicon and tow it behind an RV. Because I won´t need the seats or cargo capacity of the 4 door.
