I just got a p200a and p200b code on my 23 with only 9000 kms. I was going to call the dealer tomorrow, but after an hour drive, the check engine light went out. This truck only sees hour+ drives,(it’s not a daily). I’ll see if it happens again and book it in if it does. Seems awfully low kms to be gummed up already.

Just came back on yesterday. Going to call the dealer today and have them look at it.

Any luck with diagnosis and or Intake replacement? I got all the codes( 220a/b) at 106k right out of warranty and Jeep told me to straight F-off on covering the replacement. I'm looking to do the job myself at this point since they'll want somewhere around 1k just in labor and the whole manifold kit is about the same as of today..

if you are popping the intake i would see about finding a walnut blaster intake cleaner machine or talk to a local shop about using one to clean the intake ports on the heads.

No engineers in this world can design a system that can collect those soot like a canister where one can emptying it every 5k miles or so? Or that's also too dirty for the EPA?

You don't want the Dorman. Unlike Mopar, the Dormon doesn't come with the MAP sensor, swirl valve motor, or the swirl valve position sensors. Stick with Mopar. In essence, the Dorman is costly considering what you get. Mopar is the best option and the cheapest option when it's all said and done. Just the MAP sensor alone is $70 bucks.
I often used diesel fuel to cleans carbon from old vintage motorcycle engines that i restored. I would do the same for just a few bucks.

That sounds great, but these parts are wear items. As a matter of fact, the dealer won't service those parts separately, which is why the intake comes with all new parts. They are intended to be replaced. We've seen guys go through all that work just to tear it back down.

Too bad you didn’t remove the EGR and put a plate over the hole.

Intake manifold is a wear item is insane. This remind me of my previous v8 Mercedes with 16 spark plugs. It last too long, let's make it more expensive to maintains so they can purchase new vehicles instead.

I think dealers won't service them is due to cost of labor vs swapping in new parts. Plus the tech ability and patience.

I have a few new Mopar intakes at home, but I haven't taken a close look at them. So far, I haven't had to replace the intake on any of my EcoDiesels. I found them cheap on Ebay. I think I paid $230 shipped for one and around $250 shipped for the second one. My highest mileage EcoDiesel is a Ram 1500 with 130,000 miles.

I've read that the sensors are actually magnets, and those eventually fail due to heat. If I remember correctly, the actuator eventually fails. I think the motor on the actuator fails and I've also heard that the plastic gears wear out once the runners get gunked up.

We have a Mopar dealer tech on the Ram forum. He not only owns an EcoDiesel, but he works on them. He said buying the Dorman is a mistake and will cost you more money in the long run. It said go with Mopar and get all new parts. Since then, there's been a few people on the forum who wished they bought the Mopar intake.

It doesn't matter who the manufacturer is if the diesel has an EGR. They all clog up eventually. The sad part is with this Ecodiesel is, they added a device to help with this problem. It didn't work. To make it worse it is plastic so it is not practical to clean and reuse. Some of the other diesel intakes I have are aluminum, making it possible to clean. 100k is about time to clean all of them. I believe that highway use can go a bit further. Letting it idle is not the best for the intake or the DPF.

I agree that most stock EcoDiesel intakes are good for 100,000 - 150,000 miles. There will be a few outliers with more miles on them, but those guys are logging some serious highway miles. In my opinion, it's a small price to pay just to keep the truck in good operating condition. We've got bone stock Ram 1500s now that have over 400,000 miles. You may have to replace an EGR cooler, DEF pump, and an intake a few times, but that's much cheaper than buying a new truck.

You're right. With that said, I had 405 idle hours on my 2015 at the last oil change with over 3,099 driving hours. It's a daily driver, but we've also towed the camper from coast to coast and many places in-between.
