It's not "gatekeeping". No one is trying to keep JTs pure to authenticity. It's more just.....why? Mopar doesn't even really make a good V8 option. Just cuz it has the word "Hemi" attached to it doesn't mean anything. Toyota Corollas have Hemi heads too. So what.
Why? Because I want more horsepower and torque. I like the way a V8 sounds, it sounds like freedom. I don’t like the way the V6 sounds. I don’t like how gutless the V6 is. Even if you add a supercharger, or turbo, it still doesn’t have the torque of a V8. Those are just a few reasons of why.
I’m not a mopar guy, but I am a Jeep guy. The V8 options are just as reliable as the V6…look at the problems with the heads on the V6. Hell, you can’t even find new cams to repair it. I could care less what they call the V8, or even if it has true Hemi heads. I personally want a V8. You don’t want one, that’s great. That’s why they make chocolate and vanilla.

Neither engine option is happening in this chassis, ever.

Not in 26, not in 27.

Not ever.

Not gatekeeping, not my feelings, not my preference...

It's just literally not happening.

But this dude managed to pay another week's rent at the long stay off clicks again.

You have a Mojave - they didn't even put the diesel in the Mojave. Doubt you'll find the V8 in the Mojave, either.
Likely only the Rubicon, but I will bet you a 6 pack that won't happen in the next 2 years.

If you want a V8, you can get a conversion, and it will cost about the same as the MSRP would be for a new JT with a V8 in it. So really, you CAN have a V8 right now!
I'd also bet that if FCA did it - it won't be cheaper than a conversion.
So if you really want a V8 - go for it!
What's stopping people from doing it? They think a factory option will be cheaper?
You have a truck you like, you've modified it - sticking a V8 in what you have will be cheaper than moving all of your mods to another JT.

I share your sentiment! We also have a 2025 GMC 2500 with the 6.6 Gas V8. A fantastic power plant without all the AFM hassle. It brings a smile to my wife and myself every time we drive it!
It surely would wake up the JT! Maybe by the time the 3.6 wears out……..

Sort of funny as the 3.6 blows the old 304 away.
If it's going to be done, make it a real jump.
I have to chuckle as I look back at my post here - I just read of an AMC performance engine builder who showed a 304 he's building up for more power - he's recessed a couple of spots at the tops of the cylinder bores so he can put the big valve 390 and 401 small chamber heads on it. And here I thought no one was messing with the 304.

Yes sir, you are correct! I LOVE my Mojave…just wish it had more power. I did want the diesel, but as you said not an option for the Mojave. I do plan on doing a V8 swap. I really want to put a GM V8 in it, but it doesn’t seem like the best option. I imagine I will go with a mopar 6.4 in it. I have heard bad things about the only company that I know of doing the GM V8 conversions. The mopar V8 plugs right in and works. The difference in price between a 5.7 and 6.4 is $3,000. So the 6.4 is no brainer. Trust me, I’ve been researching. 😂

My friend has a 2025 Chevy 2500 with the 6.6 Gas. He loves it! I rode in it . It had plenty of power and was extremely smooth. There is a company out there that uses the 6.6 in conversions. I have read and heard bad things about said company. Too bad, because I love GM engines. I can’t find any other companies doing the GM conversions. It would definitely be a great engine in the JT, and a great wake up! 😂

Well you bought the wrong vehicle then, mr sounds like freedom.

Do that GM conversion. The GM engines are light years better than any Mopar.

😂 I bought the right vehicle. I just have some upgrades to make. Don’t we all? That’s one of the reasons we buy Jeeps…to make it our own. GM has their problems too, unfortunately. Look at the recent 6.2 issues. You take it easy my friend.

Yeah but there's 25 years of really solid LS options out there. One recent batch of bad ones is a drop in the bucket.

Frank Booth back in the 70's was taking a band saw and cutting the heads up. He would cut the heads length wise. One head would be cut close to the bottom of the ports. Another head would be cut close to the top of the ports. Then he would weld the heads together. It would be an extra tall head. Called them Franken heads. He did this on his Pro Stock Hornet.

Talking old engines. I have known numerous people over the years with the 318. Everyone I met that had one loved it. From all I’ve gathered it was a tough, tough workhorse of an engine.
