This is exactly it, the performance crowd and/or off road crowd make up a very small percentage of todays market, and an even smaller percentage of tomorrows market. Millennials weren't as interested in these things as GenX was, GenZ is even less interested than millennials and so forth. They aren't designing new vehicles for past generations, they design for current and future generations, and the current market majority wants efficiency. Sure, brands will continue to offer a line for these smaller and older markets while it continues to make some money, but we are going to continue to see them get smaller and smaller.

Do I think a V8 in a Gladi would be fun? Yes, but only in a toy vehicle. No way in hell am I paying premium prices for a daily thats going to double the already high fuel costs.
Oh I get it…….and agree with you…. The same reason why we’re in this ‘all electric vehicle boom’….. Everyone jumped on the bandwagon yet nobody thought about our infrastructure. 🙄

Sounds like the company I work for….. 🙄. The ’higher ups’ decide to implement this new and improved process thinking its gonna be the best thing since sliced bread. Once it hits the lower levels who have to use it everyday, it doesn’t fit to the current systems/infastructure….. (TOLD YA SO!!). They come up with committee members to figure out how to make it work. 🤣 Sorry -tangent.
I swear…...My upper boss will keep hitting that square peg with a big hammer until they make it squeeze into that round hole. 😳

BEND OVER….our vehicle choices are at the mercy of the younger generation!😡

Agree - every new car design on the horizon has that cheesy tablet suck to the dash, they call instrument cluster. That alone is a no-go for me.

No issues here - some of the cheapest and most plentiful electricity - we even export it to other states.

That picture wasn't an EV - it was a HYBRID. HUGE difference. They've been around a long time.

The problem as I see it with the younger generation, isn’t really a problem, except they don’t buy Jeeps like we had to. I know here in my part of Texas the younger generation is going off road just as much as we were. Now they have a LOT more options than we had. You go to any 4 wheel park around and it’s modded side by sides (a lot of them running 40’s, 44’s, and bigger), 4 wheelers, and a few Jeeps thrown into the mix. It makes sense. You can go buy a fully capable 4 wheeler for $6k. We didn’t have those types of options when we were younger. We had trucks, jeeps, and motorcycles. They sold 3 wheelers, and very few 4 wheelers (they were all rear wheel drive)…I couldn’t afford one then. I can’t tell you the number of times I was fixing my Jeep on Sunday night to be able to drive to work Monday.

I think every generation goes through some type of retroism fad. Not so much they find it better but just different than what they are currently use too.
That's fine, but.........
- please - NO DISCO and no leisure suits!

I looked up the 2024 ram 1500 gas mileage. This is straight ICE. This is the new body style not the classic.

The average it gets with the 3.6 with 4wd is 21 mpg.
The average it gets with the 5.7 with 4wd is 19 mpg.
The best overall is the 3.6, 2wd hybrid with 23 mpg.
The worst the 5.7 makes is 17 mpg average in the classic body style.
The TRX is by far the worst with 12 mpg on average. Of course that is the supercharged 6.2 in the TRX.

The 3.6 uses regular fuel, the 5.7 uses midgrade fuel.
The total cost difference between the best 3.6 hybrid to the worst 5.7 (classic) is $1,200 a year.
With the same body style and 4wd the difference is even closer than I thought it would be, $700 a year.

This does make me ponder. 🤔
Due to the Gladiator having the aerodynamics of a brick (it’s also heavy for its size), it brings up the age old question.
Would the 5.7 not having to work as hard as the 3.6 bring the fuel mileage and yearly cost even closer? Especially when you take into account the oversized tires, and all of the other goodies we add.
Unless you have about 100 threads where you obsessively bore everyone with half a page dedicated to bragging about your automotive prowess, your opinion is irrelevant. The psychology expert here can tell you better.

Have you looked at the mpg ratings of the V8 in a Wrangler? (going to be the same frontage as a JL, but the JT would likely have more drag due to the longer flat sides)
The V8 in a Wrangler gets horrible MPG - granted, that doesn't matter a lick to those who want a V8, but it does matter in the grand scheme of things as they still much meet fleet numbers. So far, regardless of the political type posts - there has been nothing done to relax any such rules, companies must still abide by them thus far.

In any case - it's not going to matter - there's just so very much more involved with sticking a different engine in. Even if today they said hey, the demand is there, we've done our studies - it would likely be 2 years before you see any change.

OEM v8 in the gladiator will never happen. If you want a v8 gladiator, AMW, Dakota, etc is gonna be your only option.
