My JKU had all rocker arm lifters and camshafts replaced, does our JTs have a different problem that causes that tick?
Yes.
The JK or Gen 1, had bearing failures in the follower rollers.

Ours fail on a non-roller high lift portion.

I'm thinking ours is a better design and have fewer break downs yes? :fingerscrossed: Again, thank you @ShadowsPapa for the info!

I've got the plastic cover on my engine....now you have me worrying I also have a tick
I hope you're right @ShadowsPapa because I swear I am getting it as well, it is not as loud but I'm sure its there or my paranoia is telling me its there 😳
My paranoia is now also telling me I have a one as well....I have the plastic engine cover on mine, I may go take a listen.

+1 for the "nothing wrong here" diagnosis hope

Sounds like a tick to me; go get another oil filter, take the one out that is currently in the filter housing, as long as it has been used for a bit of time, cut it open, look between the pleats (outside of filter) and if you see fine metal particles your cam is probably being chewed up. Put the new filter in the housing.

JKU was a different issue.

One can also try a fuel additive - something like a good fuel injector cleaner/lubricant.
Low cost, and if it doesn't resolve anything, little lost.
Do you have a recommendation for a specific one to use? Based on your expertise, of course.

Seafoam. That's the direction I'd go these days. There are other good ones, but I still have yet to see anyone make negative comments on it.

For me it's just for my 4.0 (in my car) with SHORT DRIVES and infrequent drives and sticky used/rebuilt injectors.
I've seen a number of folks comment about "quieting injectors". For my 4.0, it smooths idle on those old rebuilt injectors. I bet they have 150,000 miles on them.

It would be quite interesting if there were Isky cams for these engines.

How many miles do you have on your engine? How long have you used Seafoam?
I have 131,904 been using seafoam approx every 3rd full tank for a few months then off for a month or 2 then back again been doing this for about 2 years.
