Well... I've been out of a vehicle for the last 2 weeks while my Gladiator sits at the dealership being diagnosed (I already told them what was wrong) and contact warranty company to approve the repairs but at the end of last week service manager tells me that the parts he needs can/will take up to 2-3 months to get. I'm a reasonable person but I am not rich and cant' afford renting a car for that long and they don't have a loaner for me. Warranty only covers 5 days of rental! My kids start school in two weeks and they also have appointments I take them too. This is a big Jeep dealerhsip with over a hundred cars on the lot and you can't provide me something while you have my truck!

I beg for advice as how to move on here? I was going to pull my truck away from the dealership and have warranty pay whatever they worked on but I was going to buy OEM parts and have a local shop put on the new stuff as the dealership won't put on a customer bought part even if it's Mopar OEM parts.

All quoted prices are high. Some of their quotes I think, are double dipping on labor time. I would get a second opinion.

This is also a sales technique they use to get you to buy a new vehicle. $7K is a chunk of change. Run!

I waived all the other repair stuff as I can do them myself. I just want them to do what the warranty will cover.

Btw, 109k miles is young for this type of failure. Have you thought about contacting Jeep. Probably won't do any good since you are way out of warranty, but others have worked deals. By the way your dealer quoted you those crazy numbers, I would avoid them.

Another thing that probably won't do any good, have you thought about reporting the premature failure to you states consumer affairs office? The more complaints the better chance we all have of Jeep coming clean on this issue.

I think I have a better chance of my 2020 succumbing to the cam issue than winning more than a free ticket on a scratch off.

I'm guessing you have an extended warranty? 60k is the basic warranty.

Oil in the valley could be oil the mess they made changing the oil filter. If the oil filter housing is cracked, it is probably from the tech overtightening the cap.

I would ask for a better deal on the sparkplugs and the cooler just because the intake has already been removed. You should not be paying twice on labor.

Sadly, they have pool cars. I guarantee half the upper echelon wives are driving around in whatever the hell they want and rotate every 30-50k miles.
Service after the sale is what sucks. You have asked for help, and a lot of us want to offer advice, but what’s left to say?
You have a long history of engine issues on the 3.6 and poor service options even in warranty.
Jeep has really squeezed the loyalists. It’s a predicament to be sure. I know of you long timers who hit their limit and gave their final Jeep wave. I don’t blame them. Sorry you’re being squeezed. It shouldn’t happen like this.

I just replaced my camshaft. I ordered the camshaft kit from AllMoparParts.com on 7/9/25 and the parts were on my stoop on 7/17/25, after being quoted a ship date of August 15th. YMMV.

Since it's torn apart, I would have them replace the lash adjusters for the exhaust. Those parts aren't in a shortage, iirc. If it's under warranty, that shouldn't be a problem.

Have them button it up and bring it home.

Order the parts (cam kit) from somewhere *not* mopar.com or a dealer's service department. Any other reputable aftermarket/affiliate seller.

If you have a day or two and tools, you can knock out the right intake cam replacement. Including tool runs, I probably have less than 12 hours of work in mine, and I didn't rush through anything. I did have the luxury of not needing the Jeep, although the fleet all s**t the bed the same month (brakes on the Santa Fe and wheel bearings on the A4).

Taking apart the hoses, electrical connections, etc. is a time sink and I didn't want to destroy anything. Careful as I was, I still broke one connector (oil sensor on the top of the valve cover - the black part separated from the gray part) and lost 2 of the white locking clips.

I'm also short, with a JT that has a ~3" lift on 37s, so it wasn't exactly a comfortable working environment. I kept getting my foot caught between the towhook and my winch control box. But I survived with no falls, only slight scrapes on the forearms. ;)

Need to be careful. If they are in the middle of a repair or other work that is has not been completed and they have to put it back together "as is" to give back, warranty may not cover impartial work and stick you with the bill to date what has been done.

Sound reasonable. I'll float that idea with the service department once they get the okay with the warranty to start working on the engine.

No, I'll have explain what they did before I take it back.

You got 4 options.
1. Buy the cheapest car on craigslist and drive that while the dealer repairs the jeep then sell the craigslist car when jeep is fixed.
2. Pay for a rental
3. Let a private repair shop source all the parts and have a private repair shop do the work quicker
4. Let the warranty process run it's course and you and the the kids get use to riding a bus.
