I've owned 2 Gladiators now because they're Jeeps that can do some minor truck things, not trucks that can do Jeep things
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I bought the Gladiator to do truck things. Afterall, it's a midsized truck with Jeep DNA. In my opinion, the Gladiator EcoDiesel is the perfect utilitarian midsize truck.

Every single time I see someone complaining about the JT being "a bad truck" it's because they were too thick to assess their needs and are now mad at the screwdriver for being a shitty hammer.
That seems to be what I see about nearly every car.
Get the fastest car on the road, someone says "my car is more comfortable!"
Get the most comfortable car on the road, someone says "my car gets better mileage!"
Get the most fuel efficient car on the road, someone says "oh, you're a ho...." Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Maybe a minority on this board, but overall, if you just look at truck sales over the past 40+ years, I'd guess that a vast majority of Gladiator sales are the result of the buyer wanting/needing a truck.

I'm also on my second Gladiator and occasionally I'll take the family on an adventure, but the majority of the time the bed of my Gladiator looks like a sporting goods store threw up in it.

100% bought because I wanted a SMALLER truck than my huge, long, wide/fat Silverado. They just keep making full-size trucks bigger and bigger and fatter and there's no need other than customer desires. Tired of that crap, I wanted a smaller truck. So I bought the Gladiator. It's a TRUCK first, and ended up being a daily driver in the end.
My FAT 1/2 ton Silverado was bigger than my 3/4 ton 4x4 Ford and I saw no need for it. When I look at the huge front ends on today's trucks - what a waste of plastic, aluminum and steel.

What size pontoon and what does it weigh ?
24 foot Bennington. The Twin 32" elliptical tubes has a dry weight of about 2800lbs. 450lbs for motor. 1000lbs for steel tandem axle trailer, then gas, gear, etc, so its about 4800lbs.

New Yamaha 22 foot Yamaha is about 5400lbs with boat, trailer, fuel, and gear

It won't? You'd better have a talk with mine, then.
Fully aware loads of people think Gladiators tow fine.

As I'm fully aware loads of people think the Ford 300 6 is Gods towing engine, and that their TBI 350 tows fine too.

If you're happy, I'm happy. Enjoy.

Hey.... I pulled a line of loaded rail cars with my straight 6....
I used to tow loaded ammonia tanks into my fields from the coop. Haul that kind of a load through a rough field (that was my Comanche 4.0 with 5 speed)
