Bison vs Raptor vs TRD vs Mojave

Deleted member 57233

I watched only until the fool high centered the mojave. That was user error. Then instead of trying 4L or something to get unstuck, they used the Chevy to winch it out. At that point, I figured the video was equal to the one showing a cyber truck being rescued by an F150 in the snow.
Hey now, the cyberstuck doesn't need rescued by an F150, I've seen them pulled through the snow by Subarus around here 🤣

On what planet does the gladiator not have better visibility across the board? Seriously, the tacoma has atrocious sight lines.
That score card is completely biased and whomever filled it out is a non-operating idiot .

In the ratings they are considering the cameras in the visibility section - and the Gladiator only has a front trail cam compared to the production studios the other three trucks have available.

My truck has rear Cam ? I know most mojave's have front and rear and a front camera can be piped in to a Rubicon easily and then enabled

And yet they have a separate tech scorecard too. It's exactly how you'd put together the scorecards if you were trying to make other "offroad trucks" appear better than the Jeep. In reality in any rock crawling, technical wheeling, or even tight trail situations the Jeep dominates the others and anybody who's driven most/all of them off road knows that. But as a mainstream car/truck for the average buyer that's not going to do anything more than dirt roads they don't want to steer people into the solid axle, narrow body, off road first rig as those buyers are better off in their crossover trucks with Honda civic front suspensions.

Can you pull up the rear cam with the front?

On the other trucks they all have 360 camera systems. Sides, front, and rear at once. At least the ZR2 even has an underbody cam. Not sure about the others.

You're probably not wrong.

Heck, I am guilty of it. I get people ask me on occasion about my Jeep because they are thinking about one and I don't exactly paint it with rose colored lenses. I tell them hey, I LOVED my last one and the one I have now too - but they come with a personality that isn't like other vehicles and you have to understand that or you're gonna be at the lot trading it in within the year.

I know there are Jeep owners that just like the looks or whatever, but I'm not going to accept the drawbacks of an off road focused design if I'm not wheeling it. There's also the group of owners that just have to have the top and doors off capability and for that there's no other truck on the market. If I wanted a truck primarily for the road and some dirt roads I would have bought another ram rebel instead of moving to the gladiator. V8 option, way more space, much higher towing capacity, way more comfortable, and still got better fuel economy. If it weren't for the gladiator I see no advantage to a midsized truck over a full size for road and even open trail/overlanding. Are people that bad at parking that they need a midsized truck?

When I bought mine I was coming out of a two door JK that I wheeled nearly from coast to coast, and I thought I was going to continue doing more off-roading and trail riding than I ended up doing in reality.

Now, at the time (summer 2022) I was still swayed by:

Ford Ranger being unavailable.
The current gen Taco being a pile.
The incoming Frontier being too small.
The outgoing Colorado/Canyon styling not being my tastes.

And I was DONE being cramped in a 2 door Jeep after six years and had to make a change. So I ordered a Gladiator as I was familiar with Jeep and it had the most backseat space (this was important to me).

Nowadays - I don't think the Gladiator is the perfect vehicle for me anymore but it's entirely fine for me to hang on to for the foreseeable future.

I also think the Gladiator is a bit different than other mid sizes when considering around town driving and parking spaces. It is slim and slab sided with excellent sight lines off the corners of the hood. I LOVE driving it in narrow streets and tight spaces. I'm not sure other mid size trucks with their bloated bodies would feel the same - and would possible push me to a full size when I am personally a fan of mid size trucks. Haven't drove any other ones though - so not certain on this...

I'd probably jump to a Colorado being a long time GM fan, or I'd stick with my run of good Chrysler/Stellantis luck and by a Ram Warlock w/ Hemi.

100%. I drove my brother's Bison for a minute this weekend. It would be a deal breaker for me at this point if I were thinking of buying one. It's not even in the same zip code. The cameras don't make up for it, either. You can't adjust and react as quickly shuffling cameras and menus or even looking at them. I don't like having eyes in the cockpit on instruments while navigating rough terrain and obstacles. That visibility is a massive advantage.

Speaking of screens.

You now what's wild - you have to navigate the screen in the Colorado to turn the headlights on and off.

Call me old school, but I find it handy to just TURN A KNOB to operate my headlights since sometimes I want them to not be DRL or not be auto, etc.

Yes! My brother dropped some language the first time he realized that! Lol!

He is still in love with it though. Moreso as he gets accustomed to its quirks.

In just under 2 weeks we'll know how it does in Jeep world. We're doing Fins N Things as a warm up, then Hell's Revenge. Then probably Poison Spider and several other tough ones. Can't wait!

The really interesting one will be a 2024 Colorado Trail Boss that will join us for three days. I told the driver to remove the air dam or the trails will do that for him! 😂

Reminds me of the old Crown Vic that used to prowl around there! Lol!

In all fairness, that Subaru could be called the "Bypass Special.". You know because it still has its bumpers. 😂
