Don’t worry, they’ll make it right by giving you a coupon for a free oil change :like:
They did. "Come back in 1k the next ones on us. We wont use your next one of 5 left even tbough you wont use it by the time your 10 run out in December of 2026. We want to look at the filter n make sure alls good..."
So ya, that was assumed already lol

I mean honestly all I can do is laugh at this point. The bigger picture is if Im still i. This brand or back to the brand i was life long loyal to at one point until I got here. I mean there have been sooo many cons to pros at this point.... but i am a realist and know what to attribite to a dealer vs a brand. That said the ppints are not too far different depending on the attribute in question

I skipped all my free oil changes. I value my time, so it's actually cheaper doing them myself and done right. The round trip, gas and sitting around waiting ain't worth it to me.

Well this sure spiralled quickly... (slowly backs out of the room hoping Shadowspapa gets hired as lubetech at the local dealer until the free oil changes/ext warranty runs out and I get back to doing my own oil changes again, I mean free oil and filter seemed like a good idea until....)
If you are going to let the kids change your oil, you are going to have to look at the work they did. Open the hood and peek at the filter cap with a light. The hard part is dropping to your knees to look underneath at the oil pan. Take it for a short ride and look again.

I always look for drips when I park too. Sometimes you catch things early and prevent Mr. tow truck from coming to save you. Trust No body, not even yourself. I've been known to screw things up. But it's the check and recheck that saves you.

If I missed it, I'm sorry, but was the filter cap over tightened and you now have a cracked housing? Was the cap not on all the way? Oring cut? The reason I ask is that it is easy for them to see the mess, remove the filter and oring and replace it. That would not fix a cracked housing. If they did crack it, the leak may not be bad enough to see right away after a short drive. You are going to have to keep looking at it. If they install the cap loosely, the oring will seal and a crack in the housing may or may not leak. But if they put the required newtons on it, it may open the crack and cause it to leak. You are going to have to keep an eye on it. Sorry for your luck.

You didn't drive it after the light came on, and it still showed oil pressure when you shut it down. Odds are they screwed up the O-ring installing the filter housing cap (one of many reasons I hate this terrible design). Makes a hell of a mess, it will require a new o-ring, but there's no damage done. Good luck cleaning all the oil that's dripped all over the top and sides of the engine, down onto the skids, and everywhere else. It will smell like burnt oil for a month or better. You can see the pinched O-ring in this pic after I had a similar experience. I'd push for them to cover a full detail job.

Looks like you didn't put the o-ring back far enough into the o ring groove and instead left it on the threads. Ive never had an issue with the 3.6 filter and have been changing my own since 2012. It was a welcomed change from the traditional lay on your back to get at the oil filter. I do wish the filter housing was aluminum though just for added longevity.

That's how I found it after the dealer tech screwed it up, but I agree the oring wasn't installed in the groove properly.

I have already resigned myself to a complete renewal of the machine. I started with the water pump and serpentine belt ,thermostat & water temp sensor, transmission after it failed, then top of engine injectors, plugs, coil packs, cam sensors crank sensors O2sensor, map sensor I bought and new E-brakes today, I have all 4 new rotors and pads, front hub assemblies, and ball joints.. after i get those installed hopefully next weekend I am going to change every control arm and regear it . I also recently sanded and repainted the entire frame . The only way to keep a vehicle over extended years is constantly renewing parts to as new status .
Or run this 3.6L until it dies and then hemi or LS swap it.

I bought this unit in 2023, its a 202180th annoversary and it came with an extended warranty with 10 free oil changes. So even though i normally do my own, I figured why waste them. This was the 5th. Picked it up drove 16 kms just out sode of town and the engine light goes on. Codes for oil presure (even though dash said around the usual 30 then25. And i look. Oil on the ground wherei pull overto park and just residue onthe dipstick at firdt pull. Waiting on a tow to get it back there. Wpnderi g what typeof warrantyi should be expecting if they just try to put oil back in and send me on my way?
My '24 Gladiator Sport S came with two free oil changes and I haven't used one yet. As a technician myself, changing oil is something I trust very few people to do. When you think about it, the lube techs are the lowest paid people who do the most critical job in the shop. Because if they mess up just once, it could mean a meltdown on your vehicle's most critical and expensive part: your engine.
For the $35.00 it costs me to change the oil myself, they can keep the free stuff.

They are all insured and I know at least one person personally who got a brand new druramax installed on their dime. When I get closer to the point I'm ready to v8 swap it, I'll be hoping they grenade the v6 and get to pay for a huge chunk of my upgrade as a result.

The dealerships around most people must employ the worst of the worst for oil changes.
Never had so much as a drop of oil lost from a "wave" oil change. No cracked parts, no screwed up o-rings.

The problem around here is no one has seen or used a sunrider and they don't know how to install or operate them.

But the oil changes - they do just fine, even send a video of the work they are doing, checking brakes and so on.
I let them do the wave changes - free (with 5 tire rotations) - the rest is on me. years of 3.6 ownership since they first came out - no oil change issues.

The dealer should replace your engine. Not joking. Replace or nothing.

Oh thats the plan, in writing. Not expecting much from the dealer at this point. Trying to calm down while I wait for the tow so I'm not escorted out of the building once I show up.
You should expect everything from the dealer.

If they just want to refill and fix whatever they got wrong, I'd make sure everything is very well documented. Then I'd request that they begin paying for oil sample tests on the next two changes at least.
I say that’s not even close to acceptable.

But that doesn’t happen if the o ring is seated in the groove correctly, and if it’s not over tightened. They screwed up. Plain and simple. They need to fix it. Any risk of damage shouldn’t be the owners responsibility.

Nope looks dry in that area. Thinking it was the oring, unless maybe the housimg itself. Juat got it back there, spoke to the service manager, calmly. He's "going to take care of me". But I'll be getting it in writing before I leave with the vehicle. Told him they can do their thing and I assume they are going to put oil in it, acan and clear the codes I already scanned and screenshotted and call it good. Also told him they're gona need to givr the engine bay a clea ing because of the smell of the leaked oil burning. But kept it short and sweet and neededto leave so I can keep my calm and also try to not waste the entire day of the things I wont be getting done now. Told him I pick my daughter up in an hour n a half so Ill call amd touch base before that. He offered a vehicke for now but I told him if Ill wait to see how long they take. I have my wifes today for now but pnly for a couple more hours so no point in wasting more of my time working that out until the end of the day approaches.
No excuse for this. All they need to do is start the engine with the hood up, stare at it for several minutes, checking for any leaks near the filter or drain plug. Just common sense. If they had done that, they could have just fixed it then, no harm, no foul. But they didn’t double check their work and let you drive away. This is on them.
