None of those classic LA series motors would pass emissions today if they were to revive them. They died for a reason.

The big rumor around here is that amosmoses will never purchase a new or used gladiator with a turbo 4 cylinder. Ive also heard rumblings that he is not even remotely curious about the torque numbers.
I hear ya. I miss the days when it was the norm to have a base engine and an upgrade engine you could get for a modest amount more.

I heard that the V8s and the 4xe were headed to the scrap yard and the Gladdy was going full diesel electric. Think locomotive style.

The guy in the mirror told me that just now.

I’ve heard rumors (yeah, I know) that this GME T4 EVO is going to be pushing 324 hp. No word on torque numbers. Supposedly there’s a press embargo ending on Oct. 28th and then info. will be coming out.
The GME T4 EVO will have 325HP/332 Ft Lbs Torque a nice jump over the current 270HP/295 Ft Lbs.

That's a start, but I'll keep my 442ft/lbs.

Is this picture real? I thought this engine was already being built, the poster says production starting august 26. If this is real , those are impressive numbers. The august date also doesn’t line up with the rumors of this engine going into the 26 Grand Cherokee which should be showing up on lots within the next few months.

Yes it's real it's the revised version of the current 2.0 Hurricane. It will go into the Grand Cherokee initially then eventually JL/JT. My wife has a 2.0 Turbo in her 2024 JLUR and it runs good. I've noticed on the same hills and speed it stays in 8th where my Mojave downshifts to 7th.

Sorry I'm sidetracking the virtual 392 thread.
It's interesting to see the 2.0 and 3.6 on the dyno. Here are a couple.

DUH - turbo.
Turbo the 3.6 and it will start making power a lot earlier, too.

DI contributes to that as well, but has its own set of troubles..........

Looking at the comparison, my first thought is sadness that stellantis would invest in a new powerplant to achieve such small gains.
