It’s where it bolts on. It’s a common problem a kills a lot of starters. It starts before the 258. 4.0ls leak. You’ve even fortunate.
Kills a lot of starters?
That's a new one on me.................

How, exactly? Even the most oily starter on my shelves actually works ok.
The starter on the 258 was one of these - made by Motorcraft (Autolite prior to that)
The 4.0 starter is a permanent magnet starter with the brushes pretty well isolated clear to the back end with actual bearings.

Jeep Gladiator 2026 Gladiator JT is getting a 35's option and other stuff 20210107_102109

This is the one I took off my 4.0 at about 130,000 miles, restored it, brushes were worn down but it was otherwise very sound.

I don’t know man. It’s a big thing in the XJ community. I was on NAXJA all the time back in the day. 20 yrs ago. I know way too much about XJs.

I read that the 26 JL is getting a new wiring harness disconnect for the doors. Says you can disconnect it with one hand.
I hope this is coming to the 26 JT too. I Really don’t like the current quick release connectors. Anyone seen pictures of this connector?

“Another major improvement is a streamlined wiring harness connection inside each door. Instead of the older clip-style plug, Jeep now uses a single quick-disconnect coupler that can be released with one hand. This allows owners to detach power locks, mirrors, and window wiring in seconds — no tools required.”

It's about time. That other harness connector is just plain crazy. It's not needed to make it a lever with a lock and more. What - they thought it was going to fall apart?
for decades, critical connections have been made with less complex Rube Goldberg types of connectors. I'm surprised you didn't have to use an app and password to unlatch it.

I may have missed it in the last 9 pages.....but is the "Bailment" option listed on the slide a typo or just a reference to something I am not familiar with?

'Bailment' appears to refer to a few things when Googling, but one is a 'bailment pool'.

That is AI return so take it with a grain of salt.

Well, around the time this thread was started, Jeep posted on their Facebook page that an aftermarket package through the dealer would be available on the Gladiators - and it features 35" tires.

So, being marked as a bailment option on the OP's post, and the relationship of bailment with upfitting, and the package being offered through an approved OEM vendor...I am assuming the 35" tires are simply the package that Jeep advertised from:

That at least makes some sense. My quick googling just came up with a bunch of legalese referring to personal property laws.

The Gear Vehicles 'about us' page refers to it being from the same minds that started Jeep Performance Parts and their 'trusted partners'. Well Jeep Performance Parts is just a brand under Mopar - so it's probably connected to Jeeps hip somewhere in a corporate maze so that Jeep/Stellantis gets the money but without having to modify the assembly lines to do it there, and far enough removed legally speaking that they can avoid other issues if necessary.

Just making stuff up but it sounds plausible...

In college I worked at a Toyota/Lexus dealership as a porter for a summer. Mainly moving new vehicles off the truck. The amount of TRD badges, stickers, and meaningless fluff that we slapped on cars just to mark them up was surprising to me as a kid.

My understanding of the "Bailment Option" is to mean the work will be done by a third party post manufacture.

I remember the XJ's going through alternators.
Why would they? Same alternators as I've had over the years and likely the same one on the 4.0 in my SX4 now, with almost 200,000 miles on it and all original.
Maybe the EARLY models which used GM alternators, but after 91 they used Denso - decent alternators.

It was the placement
Low on the serpentine belt and prone to getting wet

Not lower than AMC placed them for years.............or the alternator placement of the Iron Duke in an Eagle.
You drive through water, watch the amperage drop for a few seconds, then back up again as it dries. Never was a problem on those (if you didn't watch the gauge or idiot light during a heavy rain, that is.)
