How bad are people at driving. Once you put big tires with a little poke the JT is just as wide. Parking at Costco was never a problem in a crew cab super duty. It's bet the RHO gets better mileage than my JT once the 37s went on. If I didn't need my truck to clear right obstacles and articulate it would have been a trx over the JT. I know some people love the smaller trucks, but the JT one built like most Jeepers do is not smaller or more fuel efficient than a full size in any way that really matters in my opinion. For me you sacrificed for a truck that is so big you'll have fun parking at COSTCO, that I couldn't get into my back yard for yard work, pay a hefty fuel bill, give up the option for a manual tranny, give up a manual shift into 4 x 4...you gave up all the features I bought my JT for. Good luck with that, have fun trying to toss stuff over those too tall bed rails.

When they put a V8 under the hood and keep it affordable is the day I go back to a JT but I have a very strong feeling that will never happen. If it does it’ll be the 392 and they’ll be selling for $100K plus.I just want them to put a V8 in the Gladiator. The size is perfect, just needs more grunt.

I can turn my JT into a parking spot that would have taken some maneuvering to get into with my Silverado or even longer F250.
And I can swing my SX4 into a spot few attempt because it has an extremely short wheelbase and tight turning radius.
I challenge you to come to our shopping centers and suggest that.
Further, not everyone spends the tens of thousands you spend on massive mods and huge tires.
I go for NO poke, hate it, even if I went taller, I don't want them sticking way out.
My JT is tons easier to use to park my car hauler. I literally could not get my Chevy to turn enough, tight enough, short enough to back it into place - JT - piece of cake. So easy, I may not bother putting the front receiver back on.
You keep saying they all park the same -I call BS on that. I have to much more room for my JT in the garage I even have stuff stored behind it and could not do that with the Chevy. I can turn my JT around within my driveway - could not do that with my other trucks.
We love this stuff...You speak of things of which you know nothing about lol... my TRX was just shy of 90 inches wide at the wheels flirting with dually territory at that point but for both front and back, if your Gladiator sticks out that wide I feel sorry for your wheel bearings. It is also full time 4wd so it doesn't turn near as sharp as a conventional vehicle with 2wd like the Gladiator. So based on those two things alone, width and poor turning radius, make a parking lot a nightmare. Factor in other people not being able to park straight and the back of the lot isn't always open, having a Mini Cooper or a crew cab with an 8' bed are very different experiences when it comes to parking.How bad are people at driving. I agree with most everything said here. For me I’d describe the power output as ”adequate” given the weight of the truck, and I believe most on here have described it the same way. Now if I’m spending in the 40’ s for this truck then adequate is ok, but when one starts to cross over into the 50’s then “adequate” is not the adjective I want to be throwing around. I won’t even go into the fact that the competition offers more powerful power trains. Just one man’s opinion.It's crazy how often ppl dog the 3.6l I get it, it's not 400hp, it's not "fast".
But some food for thought.
My 89-93 fox body mustangs, stock had 225hp out of a 5.0L v8 and was stamped H.O. (high output).
Whoever thinks a v6 putting out 285hp isn't high output is nuts. Do i wish it was maybe 320hp, yeah that'd be a sweet spot. But a v6 putting out 285hp is pretty dang good and to be as trouble free as it is, is great, i also change my oil at 3000 miles religiously because i know that's how you keep high performance engines going forever.
Is 400hp cool? Yup. Do i need it? Not really. Does it make me wish i bought a raptor ranger? LOL no. That engine is even more high performance, and requires even higher level of care if you wanna make it last.
But the 3.6L is a great little engine. Yup doesn't have a turbo to worry about, it's a solid N/A engine. It's not gutless (cough 3.8l) the 3.6 is fantastic off-road, it has a great powerband, it'll make that mojave move faster than you want across the dunes LOL. There really isn't a time I'm like "oh man i wish it had more power". It's more like "man this thing is moving" On the beach runs it'll run circles around everything else in the deep sand.
There is never a time I get home and start my washing and cleaning routine where I'm like "man if this thing just had more power I'd be happier with it".
I mean and it does this on 87 octane pump gas. LOL This JT would of ran circles around my old YJ, JK and my son-in-law's TJ.
Other things. The 3.6L Pentastar v6 weighs in fully dressed at what 330 lbs? The ecoboost engine, fully dressed, with turbos, exhaust plumbing, intercooling is in the 530lbs range. the engine is 409lbs.
Does 200 lbs on the nose matter? It's something you feel for sure hitting dunes. If you don't think so, sling 200lbs on your front end and tell me you don't notice a difference in how it drives off road.
There is something to be said about a light weight high performance v6 in the JT. Like it's smart. Just weird things I think of. But I'm perfectly happy with Jeep's decisions to keep the 3.6L going, it's tried and true, it's been over every type
of off-road trails you can think of. I don't want another 10k added to the price.
But I think we get spoiled or something. 285hp from a v6 is pretty dang good, stop hating your engine just because higher horse power engines are out there, everything has pros and cons and most built for a purpose.
The important part is get out there and go wheelin' this shit is fun.

The beauty of the tire poke was that I could still get out easily no matter how poorly parked the jack ass next to me was. XJ was stretched to 109" wheelbase but absolutely wouldn't park even my ram rebel next to a poorly parked dipshit. The Jeeps on the other hand, open your door as hard as you want, the rocks sliders won't care. I'm also known to zip tie a shopping cart to your door handle if you're parked poorly enough. Innocent enough, no damage, but without a knife could be a hell of a hassle.
