Valvoline 5w40 from new, now 31kkm. Oil change every 5000km. Only one Mopar 5w30 when I take it new from dealer. I bought there this oil and change it at first stop, after first 100km. Then after first 1000km Valvoline 5w40. I don’t care about warranty. Nawet used this on any my vehicle.

I run Penzoil platinum 0w20. Have since it became mine. What they used before I got it I have no idea. I’ve always believed in running the best motor oil you can justify by the price in the recommended weight. When I ran a built rice rocket I used Royal Purple because it just ran good in the RB25. Performance oil for a performance vehicle. Now that I run more utilitarian vehicles I run more utilitarian oil but always at the recommended weight. Dealers already like to deny claims because of anything so no reason to give them more ammo.

We've owned Jeeps with the 3.6 since the 3.6 first came out, and then the PUG version - several of those. Never an engine issue.
I believe it's the quality of the oil as much as anything. These things go many many miles without issues, millions of them have!
Even in summary, Lake Speed says 'run what the book says'

The used oil did actually have a slightly purple tinge to it, but I changed fairly frequently. I ran that vehicle hard in Japan doing togue and some other road course stuff. It got changed after every hard run so way more often than the recommended interval.
