Hello to all, and Happy Holidays. I have a 2025 Nighthawk which I have accesorized some, but mostly plan on keeeping stock wheels and suspension (for now) It drives extremely well on pavement and it is a daily driver. (275/55R20)

But I was just thinking about the stock bumpers which I understand contain a large amount of plastic and whether that impacts the front recovery hooks from having full tow strength in the event they are needed. We plan on traveling to Yosemite and Whisky Falls area North of Bass Lake next week and there is always a Subaru stuck that needs help. I routinely carry a recovery rope and shovel.

Do those hooks securely mount to metallic bumper surfaces connected to the frame rails?

The tow hooks on the front and rear do mount to the frame/rails directly. Our plastic bumpers have openings in just-the-right-places so they bolt on and hooks extend through the plastic.

You may be able to find a few disassembly photos of bumper replacements on here with the mount points visible. Or search for “adding fourth rear tow hook”; a few of us did that and some kind folks added photos.

The tow hooks on Jeep bumpers are solid , not sure if you have two on the back , but I do , but still like a hitch mounted skid plate with attachment point or you can get an insert for your hitch that allowed shackle to mount on it, safest way to pull is with shackle at hitch less chance of things falling off the hook. Never use a hitch ball to tow…..Jack

PS your thread got me thinking need to get a hitch shackle insert for myself to have to insert in someone else’s hitch to help pull them out!

I have two in front and one the back. I have a DV8 hitch skid on order for a center pull (existing is on driver's side.) I also like that tow hook called Camel toe that unfolds for easy insertion. Just got to get a locking hitch pin.

Unless there's no other option you don't want to pull stuck vehicles out in reverse as the axle gears are weakest in reverse. The front hooks should only be used for self recovery/ pulling the Jeep forward. They are plenty strong, the gears in reverse are the issue.

Hitch mounted tow points nice to have. I have a skid plate on mine and wife has the d ring insert on her 4Runner. If we need it for either rig we use it for either of ours or someone else’s. Having. The side points is good for those sticky off camber recoveries as a stabilization points. I once ended up on 3 wheels in a lake with my raised tire about knee height and just could not get myself out. They stabilizer the rig on the drivers side so I wouldn’t go further in and I used the winch to pull myself further. Same goes for most recoveries. Center for pull and sides for stabilization.
