Hey folks,
I really hate posting this, there’s a million threads out there on the subject. I’m debating between these 3 specific tires and sizes as far as being cost effective and needs. So, new MojaveX which will have 2 inch AEV lift. Occasional trail/dirt road, mostly mall crawler. No towing at this time. Not looking to regear at this time. Want 3p snow rated.

My dilemma on these 3 is that the 37’ KO2’s weigh 4-4.5 pounds less than either of the 35’s in this list. So in actuality, the rolling mass would be less. 🤷🏻

I’d like to stay on topic with these 3 tires if possible. TIA

I've had the 35" Falkens on my Rubicon now for around 20,000 miles and love them. Liked the stock 33" Falkens and hated the BFGs, also had some Toyo RTs and these Falkens are the best out of all of them. Can't speak for snow yet though, haven't had any in TN since I put them on this summer. Yes, I drive the hell out of it...

buy what works best for you, who cares about a few pounds, it's not going to make a difference. You truck is 5000 lbs plus....
Was this said in jest? I hope so because you completely missed the physics and effects of rotating mass and unsprung weight.

No it's real, you guys spend to much time counting pennies, not everything in life needs an exact engineered solution. You have a fat shoe box of a truck, who cares if one set of tires is 12 lbs heavier in total to another set. This is not some high precision race car, if you care that much about MPG don't buy a shoe box, get a prius or a Buick.

My wheel set is 120lbs per wheel and the truck hasn't exploded or crashing uncontrollable into a tree, drives just fine.

I run the BFG’s in the size you are looking at on my JTRD. It is heavy and they have 30,000+ miles on them. They ride great, for a Jeep and I included a picture of the tread depth for your review.

I also run the same size/model Falkens on my 23 JTM with the the AEV 2 inch spacer with correction brackets. They only have 7000 miles so I can’t speak to longevity but they too run great. Haven’t run them in the snow yet but hoping this changes next week.

I don’t know anything about the Goodyears but you can’t go wrong with the other two. The Falken 35’s look as big as the run small BFG’s 37’s. I am honestly looking at Nitto 37 x11.5X 17’s next time I purchase just to cloudy the water more. And lastly, the narrower tires don’t throw as much crap up the sides and your hinges as the wider tires says Captain Obvious.

I have the Falken 11.5 X 17 ATW+4 on my Gladiator. Very impressed with them so far, about 8000 miles. I have been a Goodrich guy for years but the newer KO3's have been limited in size options, so I went with the Falkens. May just stay with that brand now.

Thanks so much……..good info!👍🏼 I’ve already accounted for for avoiding crap on the hinges and side of the JT. Installed the XR extensions and clear film on the hinges.

You’re completely clueless. 😂

It’s not about the added vehicle weight. It’s hilarious that you doubled down. 😂

Are you planning to mount on stock rims? I see you selected the 11.5’s on the Falkens, which will mount to factory 7.5 rims…the 12.5’s usually ask for an 8.5 or wider

I had a set of the Goodyear UltraTerrain, rotated every 3000 miles and they lasted about 15k miles. They are a softer compound that liked to throw rocks and the gravel ate them up, started chunking and went downhill fast. Currently on the Toyo Open Country RT Trail for the last 12k miles, good tire on all terrain, quiet, not sure if I will get to the 45k miles warranty before having to change them out, maybe 30k if I am lucky.

BFGs are expensive and last a long time. They are a low rolling resistance tire as well. They work well in most any condition. Toward the end of their life they tend to get very hard and loose grip in the wet.

take a look at Toyo RT Pros. very compatible tire.

No, after market rims. Ya, the 12.5 wide goes up about $100

For such a well advertised brand it seems the Goodyear tire is not a favorite of the offroad community. Anyone got a feel for why this is? I've never run them so don't have an opinion.

Can anyone really tell if a tire weighs 4 or 5 pounds more that something else if all other things were equal?

Just curious.
