I have the Tyger T1.

The install hardware is a little fiddly. A lot of screwing around to make one of the hundred little brackets it includes work properly with your setup, but once it's on there it's good. I have had no issues.

I roll and unroll mine a lot and it doesn't seem to mind. Keeps water out fine - though I don't go through auto car washes often so can't speak for that. Water pools on top near the edges if you don't keep the cover super taught, but it hasn't been an issue. Rolls right off when you take off for a drive.

I prefer the soft cover as it is 'domed' and allowed me to fit some slightly taller things that would not work with a solid tri fold.

I do not like the tri-fold as I need 100% access to my entire bed at times and the tri-fold would just be in the way or have to be removed.

I'd buy it again.

I don't know what area you're in. But I may have a trifold for sale soon. Just bought a topper. Mainly because I had gear from before. I have fridge/freezer that won't fit under the tri-fold and that's a pain. And my packouts can stack again.

Where do you live?? Are you totally set on getting a soft cover?

Anything that rolls up & uses velcro, or snaps, is a pain in the ass in the cold weather. Vinyl shrinks in the cold weather. If you unroll it in the cold weather, it’s extremely difficult to get it back on (until it warms up enough so you can ‘stretch it’ in place).

Soft tri-folds (with a frame) are OK….. but even garage kept, and treating with vinyl protectants…the vinyl doesn’t last forever. I had cracks in only 7 years.

Take a look at the HARD Tri-folds….. Yes, they are more expensive, but they’ll last sooo much longer and you don’t need to apply ’protectants’. They also offer a little bit more security of items in your bed. I had a Hard tri-fold on my previously owned Canyon….it was installed when the truck was new and was still in awesome condition 8 years later when I traded it. I currently have the same brand hard tri-fold on the JT.

I just ordered the Rugged Ridge hard tri fold cover. Couldn’t pass up the $599.00 sale price at Realtruck.

On the previous trucks that I've owned I either had a shell or nothing, so I wasn't sure how I would like a tonneau cover. Got the Tyger soft tri-fold for my JTR, and I liked it. It took three tries (becoming out of stock before I could order it) to upgrade to the Tyger hard tri-fold. I like the hard tri-fold better because I can set items on top of it when it is either open or closed without worrying about damaging the soft cover. They don't recommend going through a car wash with the soft tri-fold.

Anybody have any input/opinion on the Rugged Ridge rollup @ $129 vs the Tyger rollup @ about $210?? Is the Rugged Ridge actually better especially considering the big discount?
I've had the Rugged ridge tri fold for 5 1/2 years with no issues. They are actually made by Xtang. I like the rugged ridge one i have as its a premium twill fabric that matches my soft top then the actually base vinyl cover.
The $129 version says its a matt black fabric, so that is a bonus if you have the upgraded soft top.

I decided against a tri-fold cover because if you want the bed entirely open you either have to remove the cover or block the rear window. I went with a Tyger roll-up cover and have been completely satisfied with it.

I have a trifold….not sure what brand. I like it. The only drawback I have found is that you can’t put something in the bed that is the same size as the bed. If, as you say, you only transport groceries, the trifold should be fine.

I have had the roll up Tyger for 5 years. Very pleased with it. It's super easy to latch and unlatch. I chose a roll up so that I could access the full bed easier. I figured with this short of a bed I would need that more often. I recently picked up a sweet hard trifold from Temu for under $300. It's nice but it's not as easy to latch and unlatch. I notice that most on a trip that I have my cooler in the bed. That cooler is a hair taller than the tailgate so it needs the cover unlatched to slide it out to grab the next beer.

The hard trifold looks great and is ever so slightly more secure. The roll up is easier to open and gives full access to the bed without out having to remove the entire cover.

Glad to hear you like the Rugged Ridge cover. I ordered a roll up one. Figured for that sale price might as well give it a try.
