Yea, I forgot about the early turn-in programs. I did see quite a few that were 1-4 months short of the standard 36 month lease term. As you mention is does keep customers in the brand and provides a good supply of used vehicles that typically have been dealer maintained.
Those and ex service loaners. Yup.

That looks like a decent price if that is the spec you would like. i would also see what kind of deal you can get on a similar new one or one that is more like what you want if you prefer a different model and decide from there. I would do a thorough inspection of it as i would any vehicle even a new one. Unless it was wrecked not much risk in it with being a 2024 at that mileage. Unlike all the banter i have no idea how Carfax or any of them get dealer data if they have the ability to scan dealers and manufacturers systems for info or if dealers and repair shops would waste their time sending data to a private business unless they subscribed to it and were required to. If it was me i would Check to make sure it tracks straight and has no rattles. look it over mechanically and climb all over and under it to Check everything including the body especially the seams, corners inside and out look around for strange overspray on things or marks in areas of the frame and hardware that may be from repairs etc it does seem unlikely it would have major issues or been rebuilt since most totals are documented in all the big databases unless someone owned it outright and totaled and rebuilt it themselves without insurance.

My bmw dealership didn’t report to carfax. You could pull up a maintenance report in the bmw system, but none of our dealerships (in the dealership group) reported maintenance to carfax.

“Most BMWs are in leases” is outdated btw. They don’t subsidize residuals like they used to so their lease numbers have gone down considerably. It finally caught up to them so they had to back way off.
Really, interesting. Let me state this another way: in all my year shopping for cars and reading Carfax reviews the only entries I see on them are from new car dealerships and the DMV for registration stuff. Never have I seen a maintenance entry from a used car dealership nor an owner. That's basically what I was trying to get at, so it comes as a surprise to me to hear you know of a new car dealership that doesn't.

If you decide on the vehicle, you mentioned perhaps giving a "lowball offer to get an extended warranty." That sounds like a good idea. But, if it were me, I would first go to the finance person and see what they offer. The saleshole will say this and that, but the finance person will have the facts and prices and options. Try to talk to the finance person personally, without the saleshole there.

Then, you can decide on your offer with the finance person even though the saleshole will of course have to get involved. Why get the finance person involved? The finance person will then have a vested interest in you making the deal since he/she will get his commission/quota on the deal.

I have used that strategy before and it worked well for me.

The specs on that vehicle would make me inclined to think it was probably a customer order (high trim sport with max tow). I would be inclined to think that it was purchased by an enthusiast and self- maintained (despite Jeep wave oil changes being free, many people, opt to not have the service done at the dealership for fear of incompetence). Many dealerships opt not to CPO an eligible vehicle because that would marginally increase the sale price. Since it’s still under factory warranty and low mileage, I would have no qualms about buying it and I’d run an oil sample after the fact for peace of mind ($50). Good find

Funny to me that you think the sales person, that you use a derogatory term for and continually defame, is the dishonest person and the finance manager is the honorable one. You have that completely twisted. I’ve worked at a lot of dealerships. Started off in traditional sales and worked my way up. 9/10 times the finance manager is the slimiest person in the dealership. They make their money in marking up interest rates, warranty prices, and selling products that most people don’t need or are even obsolete or just total crap. That’s one job I refused to do for years and thankfully was eventually able to bypass and move up.

I’ve been out of the biz for a few yrs now, but that hasn’t changed. Just last year my fiance bought a new car and the finance guy straight up lied and said that Mazda doesn’t offer manufacturer based extended warranties on new car purchases. I was quiet before that and was just there to make sure she got the car she wanted for a fair deal, but I took her outside and explained to her what was going on and she asked me to handle it from there. She got her 1.9% financing through Mazda financial and he didn’t make a dime upselling her on anything. He lied about that too and wanted to use another bank and said she only qualified through them and for 5.9%. She has 800+ credit, a great job and zero debt and put down a sizable down payment. That guy was total scum and most are. She bought a 2025 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Premium. Nice car for the money btw.

TL;DR. The finance guy is the biggest snake at most dealerships. Beware.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn't mean to be offensive to you with the term saleshole. Anyway, I was not saying one was not better or worse than the other. I was just saying that having both the finance person and shill involved in the initial transaction can make more sense sense in certain circumstances. If push comes to shove, and you are X dollars apart, let the two of them work it out between themselves since they both have cushion to work with. Also, find out all of the "extras" the finance person will try to add so you know what you are dealing with.

But since you already have worked in the industry, you understand how the whole process works. Again, sorry if I was being disrespectful to those in the profession. I have overall gained greater respect for the work.

For pricing reference I bought a used 2023 Mojave with 13,000 miles on it a couple weeks ago at a local Honda dealer near Chicago. The truck stickered for just under $75K and they wanted $39K. I was trading a 2019 Subaru Ascent that had a Subaru guaranteed trade value of $16,200. They wouldn't come down on the price of the Mojave because it came with factory half doors and was well optioned with 17 months of factory warranty left having entered service in June of 2024. It has a clean carfax with no service records showing. They did however up the trade in value on my Subaru to $20K so after it was all said and done I effectively paid about $38K out the door.

Anyway, it's probably not an issue - first owner likely did an oil change. I'm thinking that the buyer who gets the max tow package probably is the kind of owner who changes the oil.
Most people are out there buying whatever catches their eye, based on payments.

The dealer ordered the Max Tow package, and Kyra from accounting has no idea she has it.

She does know shes a strong, independent woman and shows it with her sunglasses, messy bun, and Gladiator.

I have a Mojave with a fancy winch bumper, 4.88 gears, front locker, and have never once changed the oil in it myself. And never will.

I’m not disputing what you’re saying at all, but just wanted to comment one thing. The fact that they ever sold for $75-$77k is pretty wild to me. 22-24 model years were wildly overpriced. For comparison, I just went on Jeep’s website and build a 2026 and built a Mojave X, which comes
very well equipped and added popular options without going nuts with unnecessary accessories and it was $65k after destination.

That’s another reason that I agree with others in that the OP should research buying new with the same options and see which makes more sense.

There is a reason I didn't buy one in 2023. I would never pay $75K for it but I was happy to get it for the used sale price. This truck was built in 07/2023 and didn't enter service until 06/2024 so the sticker price likely scared away buyers. My guess is it was discounted to get it off the lot almost a year later.

FWIW, unless you really want the half doors, you can usually flip them for some decent coin, especially if still in the box unused.

Yes, mine were installed but are in like new condition. I was surprised they were still with the truck and were traded in with it. A set of white that were listed as new on ebay sold for just under $7k last week. The half doors are one of the reasons I bought this particular Mojave. I just picked up a soft top new in the box for a good price on marketplace over the weekend. This pic is from the original owner who provided it to the dealership for their ads.

Im sure the jeep is fine but I'd definitely get up under it and spend all the time i wanted checking it out. Otherwise I would be looking at leftover 25's! I bet there is one in the area that is a better deal brand new. Btw I'm in NC and bought my gladiator from Leith in Wendell. They treated me pretty well. No complaints.

The cool thing is they have three Jeep dealerships. I bought from the one on Capital Blvd because I was working across the street at the time and they had exactly what I wanted at their Cary location so I got the same deal as if it was on their lot. We agreed on a deal. I gave them my info so they could have the paperwork ready. They sent the sales guy to pick it up and I came in that evening and signed the paperwork. The paperwork was ready and printed off and my Jeep was gassed up and detailed and I was in and out in 20-30 min. It randomly snowed a few inches and I drove my brand new Jeep home in a snow storm. Lol
