JT Owners Manual - How to obtain a hard copy free from FCA

Just something to clutter up the glove box.

I've had a ton of questions over the years for new vehicles I've owned . All of them, answered by the internet faster and in more depth than the owners manual could hope to provide.

People who demand a hard copy of the owners manual just want it because they think it will help them haggle when it comes time to sell the rig: "It's even got the original owners manual!!!"


(queue all the "Oh yeah? What if you're in the middle of nowhere with no cell service and you need to know what color the wire for AUX2 is?" in 3....2.....1....)

That's right - and frankly, they find that many people actually still read paper text more easily, retain it better and will refer back to it.

When I was wiring in my aux switch wires, I opened the glove box, opened the book. I didn't have a phone with me and the computer was clear across the shop.

Of course - we could point to the times when the internet was wrong - such as aux switch fuse protection when the answers were for DEALER INSTALLED switches, not factory switches, so there is that.

I'm happy as long as I can have a pdf. I can bookmark what I want and, more importantly, search when needed. I keep a copy on my iPad and iPhone.

Glad that works for you. I need a book, too hard to see tiny txt on celly. I need a laptop one of these days.

Yeah, people assume others are less smart or something because a book is preferred. Well, goody for them, perfect eyes and iPads and all.

As you said too some of us keep notes in them too. I often tap pages for quick access to look up details that are not regularly done. Or need to remember, for the heck of it. I could use the pages to light a fire if needed.

The truth is, paper pages actually are far better. Many studies over the years have found a correlation between reading comprehension, memory and other factors when subject read a book or print on paper vs. a PDF on a screen.

Better comprehension: Studies consistently show better reading comprehension with paper than with digital formats, as physical books help with memory and recall.

Improved focus: Reading a physical book removes digital distractions like notifications and hyperlinks, which can improve focus.

Less eye strain: Paper reading does not cause the eye strain associated with long screen time.

Tactile experience: Turning pages creates a physical "index" in the brain that helps with spatial memory of where information is located.

The latter is actually a big deal - I find that using books I create sort of a pattern or index in my brain and can more quickly find something. For my stamp albums - now covering 6 large binders, having gone through them a few times when I find a stamp I need to place in the album, I often grab the correct book and even turn fairly quickly to the right area in the book.
Books lead to better recall, more memory of what you've just read or seen and as said - physically using the book triggers other parts of the brain.
It's sort of like if my wife asks me to remember to do something - I repeat it back. That does a better job of storing what she just said than "ok, honey" which almost never works and leads to other issues not in this thread.

Books are better, many still want, even prefer them, and there's basis in fact, science, that helps explain why.

And then you see just a few words at a time and have to scroll around. Sorry, on a phone a PDF sucks. I don't even have any pdfs on my phone.

Just stumbled on this thread when looking about how to get a manual. We just purchased a used 2021 JT. Obviously we can download the online PDF, but can you still get an actual printed one for free for an older model?

About to post the same thing. Ebay just about always has a listing for a owners manual of most late model vehicles.

People go to salvage yards, or other sources, sometimes printing the PDF version, and sell them. It's a thing going on for years. You can get manuals for almost everything going back a century on eBay.
