Back in the 80's we use to wheel TVA access trails. Don't laugh, some were pretty intense. They let people wheel them to help keep the vegetation down. But alas the usual idiots ruined it with their abuse of use. Leaving garbage, tearing up the trails, ect...

Man, this sucks. Sorry you had to deal with this BS. You have always been helpful to me so I hate hearing of this experience.
I was bummed out for a while, but that’s life. Thanks for your words. I truly enjoy this forum, and if I can be helpful, I enjoy that even more. This is my biggest hobby, and I’m constantly learning. Lots of that knowledge grew from ideas on this forum. Reach out anytime. I’m always around. :)

I hate seeing garbage on the trail. So thoughtless. I try to pick things up when possible.

At times we left with several full trash bags. And I too am sorry you had to deal with the immature knot heads.
But on a bright side, you got to meet "lite brite", so jealous!!!

No shock there............... so full of hate. Look at every one of his other posts - wow.

ON topic - my Jeep is because it does anything and everything I want. If I can take some fun trails - fine, but when it becomes too much work, then the enjoyment is gone. I also need to drive it back home when done.
I wish I had set up my phone to do a video of my very amateurish run at the crazy hills and turns and mud last fall, but hindsight - we know about that. It would have gotten at least a couple of laughs, but also proved to me - that thing stock is quite capable. What I got out of it was some fun, an "ok, me AND this rig can easily do that stuff, especially with a simple sway bar mod (which I hope to get at later this year after dust settles from other stuff).
It plows snow with great ease, takes nasty snowy, icy roads with ease, hauls my stuff, it's done all I've ever asked of it.

I have severe social anxiety so any trail run with many many dozens of people will not be my thing - I prefer smaller groups where there's a bit more team-work, smaller more helpful groups, and a Marine attitude - leave no man or woman behind.
You learn by failure, not by success, and if those around you forget that - screw 'em, don't need that type.
Maybe when I’m out your way later this year, we can do a nice moderate sight seeing trail? I’m hoping to plan that trip to have more spare time. Maybe we can figure out the swaybar and shock reservoir conflict then, if you don’t figure it out sooner.

He has been banned twice before under other names. His tells give him away each time. He cannot control his snarky asshole sarcasm for too long.

I’ll likely never wheel in AZ again, which I’m just fine with.
I hear ya... AZ can be BRUTAL. Rocks upon rocks upon rocks. Coming from CA, it caught me offguard. So much so that I left dirt biking behind, and moved to Jeeps cause the trails are really not suited for 2 wheels (in great part).

I'm sorry for your experience. I learned early on with dirt bikes / dirt bikers that there are these types of folks out there, and that I want nothing to do with them. Ego's and D!$@ measuring seems more important to them than having a good time. Then, putting others down? Total losers. Not worth the time of day. Plus, there are many who can't afford fixing $5k in damage every month.... Best to never wheel with those types.

Good luck getting your rig back and running again!!

At this point, my wife and I basically wheel in the Gladiator alone, and only take on stuff we are pretty sure we can get out of alone. A Starlink Mini has taken a bit of the stress of wheeling alone off our minds. That and letting someone know where we are headed.

Good luck on your future adventures!!

Agree. Life is a learning experience. If it wasn’t, we’d all stay as dumb as I was in my early 20’s.

I love wheeling in AZ!!!! That’s where I started out and then moved to Cali though so just the reverse. I think the thing I liked most wheeling there was the trails changed quicker than they do in California. You can run the same trail once a month for 10 months and it going to change probably 5-6 times within that time frame. Always keeps it interesting. I agree with you on the rocks but I feel more at home in a boulder field with some pumpkin sized rocks than I do with an open stretch of sand. Sand kicks my azz almost every time. :CWL:

Yup...Whatever happened to *Tread Lightly*? Not necessarily the non-profit thing/website but the thought behind it.....

That phrase was the rule-book for proper and responsible offroading back 25 years ago.
