I hear ya!

This definitely isn’t a hobby I learned over night. I’ve been doing this for 5 plus years over multiple platforms. Hundreds of cars under my belt. Every tune is custom to the specific OS/Make/Model/engine etc. and not a cookie cutter copy and paste thing. I build all tunes from each vehicles individual read. It’s not like a superchips flashcal or the like where you get a generic thing.

Look in the threads on the JL wrangler forum and you’ll see some customer reviews. I’m a total nerd with this stuff

All 3.6 PUG engines from 18-26 in Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, and Pacifica flavors all tune generally the same with some minor differences in how they respond and how they are set up, but I only develop and release tuning support on vehicles I own or have tuned locally myself.

I'll ask them.
I just heard back from another customer of mine on this....HP Tuners has to be presented with an ECM already programmed to the VIN before they can do the unlock. So if you go the extra PCM route, you'll have to install it, have dealer program it, then remove and send out. Luckily, it takes all of 1 minute to remove the negative battery terminals and remove the PCM. You can do it in the dealer parking lot

Interesting enough I don't experience this stutter on my Gladiator it seems to me on mine that everytime it shifts It just speeds up I literally feel it pick up speed.
These things only stutter IMHO when you are just trying to take off really easy through the gears. If you are on the throttle literally nothing . Mine shifts 3000-3200 and just goes. Maybe its just in driving style . I dont know .
I will say this I dont think there is but 1 sensor that I never replaced and that is the high lift sensor . But I did give both of them fresh seals in the valve pans.

Is your 2021 a GPEC5 or GPEC2A model? Easiest way to tell without MPVI is the GPEC2A has connectors on the side of the PCM, the 5 has them on the top.

Just asking because GPEC2A models don't have the stutter issue like the GPEC5 models do

Well that explains that then lol the GPEC2A models don't have the bad VVL programming like the GPEC5 models

From HP Tuners regarding a new GPEC5 PCM:

"HP tuners can only preform the upgrade service on the original PCM from the vehicle. We unfortunately do not offer upgrade services on spare GPEC5 PCMs."

Just a little update now that I’ve done a few of these.

For any JT guys considering a tune, if you have an early GPEC5 model, especially 2021, I highly recommend checking with your dealer to make sure you don’t have a throttle related recall that needs taken care of. I’ve noticed that early GPEC5 models that aren’t on the latest software have screwed up throttle related parameters that Jeep addressed in later years, but I can’t change the needed column and row reference points on those particular tables unless you have the latest OS.

That said, I actually recommend that ALL years spend the hour of labor at your dealer and make sure your PCM and ECM have the latest software on them.

The 2021 I am driving To my knowledge has NEVER received an update. The radio even is as it was and has never had and OTA update. Now that is the truth

GPEC2A guys should be fine. It’s just the super early GPEC5 files that I’m seeing this weird issue on.

I thought GPEC5 started in 2023. I have not heard of any recalls or TSBs about throttle problems or reflashing. Mine is a 2023 JT. Maybe when my PCM gets back from being unlocked I can check into it. Is there a version number I can look at when I get it hooked up to the scanner/programmer? Going to the dealer is not high on my list of things I want to do.

I’m working on a 2021 currently with a GPEC5. That was the first year they started transitioning. I don’t think the recall was very prevalent. Your 23 should be good! His 21 is fine also it just made a few things we had to work around while dialing it in. 22 and newer don’t have the same software issue I saw on that. You don’t have to update.

Posted up a couple new videos on Youtube, one is just an update on everything and a shout out to everyone who I've worked with so far, and the other is talking about my new Excel tool I posted up on here for dialing in shifting in automatic models.
