Wolfbox Mirror Location Move - Dash Mounted w/ Bulletpoint Mount

When I added my topper, I also installed a @WOLFBOX G900 Pro to maintain good rear view visibility. I used their Jeep mirror mount that replaces the OEM mirror. What I hadn't seen discussed anywhere during my research on the G900 Pro was the effect it has on forward visibility out the windshield. The thing is large and JT windshields are small. I found myself constantly having to duck down to see under the mirror and check oncoming traffic to the right. I saw Bulletpoint has a Wolfbox mount and already had the Rubigrid system, so I gave it a try and it ended up working really well. Drilled a hole in the top of the dash under the mounting plate and ran all the wires through the dash. I did have to file the slot on the Rubigrid a little to get the cable heads through. Now running with nothing hanging down where the stock mirror is and can see MUCH better.

Well done. I’ve been considering doing this one. Not sure how I would set up the Garmin and everything once I do though. That’s really my only hesitation.

As I’m hoping I’ll soon be the owner of a bed cap I too started thinking about the fact I’ll lose my rear view.

I have seen the Wolfbox and thought about it, but wondered about the wiring and taking up extra space in the already limited windshield.

I’m tall and don’t have a great view out of the windshield towards the top as it is. If I sit too close to high traffic lights I have to bend a little to see them change. (Yes I could lower the seat a tad but then that puts my knees above my hips more and would mean a more bent seated position, so I don’t.)

I love how you mounted your Wolfbox above your dash and cleared into the view in the middle of your windshield.

I had also been considering how viable a wireless rear view camera may be with a small monitor mounted to the left of my steering wheel by the A pillar.

It would only be for general rearward visibility as I would still have my wing mirrors and the OEM backup camera too when the JT is in reverse. So it might meet my purposes.

Anyway, appreciate your post @DenCoGladiator and the photos as well to show us the final look. Gave me more food for thought as well.

I'd say the answer depends. There's room on the Rubigrid for another 4 ball mounts. You'd have to go sideways or up with the arms, and if going sideways you'd likely have to get a longer arm or run two arm segments to get it out and around for whatever you're trying to mount.

I'm not sure I'll end up adding anything else in my set up. I was originally using it for phone and handheld gmrs radio. Once I got the Stinger head unit with wireless car play I didn't mount my phone much. If I still want to mount them in the future, I'd likely go to a driver side A pillar ball mount and a passenger dash grab handle ball mount.

For me it was more important to keep the dash cam / rear view camera. I was at the point with the poor front visibility that I was thinking about getting rid of the Wolfbox.

What length arm are you using?

Do not want to derail this from the wolfbox mount. How has the stinger radio been? any integration issues?

100% on the visor! The Stinger has been great and no integration issues (steering wheel buttons, HVAC, off road pages, etc.). Was actually surprised I nailed it first try as I'm no car audio tech and there are a ton of cables and connections. Absolutely no regrets on purchasing and installing it. I came from the 7in stock system.

I went with the 1cm arm for mounting the Wolfbox.
