Regret ordering if 2-Door Gladiator possible?

Another thought as far as design costs (standing in the garage looking at my 2dr JK)...
What about taking the same JLU frame as they did for the J6 concept using same front half as the JL including 2dr fold and tumble seat but end the cab 19” behind the front door w/same 5’ bed as gladiator?? Still ends up being same length with storage space behind the front seat for alpine sub and such and would then use same sound bar as JL and same bed that’s already been designed and constructed for the gladiator. Only difference would be body tub and have the sports bar turn 90 degrees down right behind the sound bar at the back of the cab. Removable hard top only (let Bestop and others develop a soft top). Only design cost and difference would be body tub, sport bar and hard top... all the other parts are already on the factory lines.

Then it wouldn’t be a JT, or have JT towing & payload capacity. You need the JT frame and suspension for that, not the JLU frame.

Rubicon Base is $38,940 for the 2 door and $42,440 for the 4 door, a difference of $3,500 + add $2,000 premium for it being a Gladiator would give you an entry level price of $40,940 for a 2 door Gladiator Rubicon. Pretty damn expensive for a 2 door truck and I just dont see many people dishing out that kind of money for one that wouldn't be used as a daily driver.

The truth is Jeep pays a lot of money for data mining this kind of stuff so they know better then any of us. I have seen multiple people like Mike Manley state that the business case for the 2 door isnt there and thats why they didn't make it.

As far as people having kids later my wife and are in that boat. Im 40 she is 30 and we are not planning on having kids till next year. But I still picked a 4 door wrangler over the 2 door for my daily incase I wanted to take friends along, have my dogs in the back or take my parents to dinner with us. Its just more practical for people that don't own multiple vehicles. Hell I love the extended cab Raptor but wouldn't buy one for the same reasons.

Again I’m reading everybody’s comments online; on this forum and other sites and they seem pretty optimistic about the idea of a 2 door. This is just simply your opinion and my opinion. It’s nothing to get bent out of shape about, and for the same reasons you opted for a 4 door vechile I am the complete opposite. I drive a regular cab ranger right now as my daily and my fiancé and my lab have all the room we need. There’s a market for it, and it may not be the truck that you would like, but there’s a bunch of potential buyers out there that want this. Unless they are just wasting their time typing endless pages of BS all over the internet lol. If they are they have way more time on their hands then I do that’s for sure.

They will never sell this as a fleet vehicle as its a terrible fleet vehicle. Its handling is worst then all the IFS Rangers, Tacomas, and Frontiers on the market, it gets worst milage, and it will never be as cheap due to the removable top. Not to mention FCA is building a new Dakota in the next 2-3 years that will be offered in a cheap base for fleet sales. Its a big part of why the 2 door dosen't make sense for Jeep but it dose for Ford, Chevy, Toyota and Nissan.

Would you pay the same price for a 2 door as a 4 Door Wrangler? As thats about where pricing would be. Thats the part I think most people don't realize. Even if a 2 door is offered it would be roughly $2K less then the 4 door version. It will never be in the price range of a extended cab Frontier, Ranger or Tacoma.

I’m in, if they offered a two door! I would not be tempted to upgrade either, for $2-3k more. I know what I want, and I will buy it, if offered. Back in 2004, I could of upgraded to a four door tacoma. I opted for the single cab. The four door didn’t offer a manual transmission back then, and it only had the short 5 foot bed. Esthetically, I thought the truck looked dorky...

I been holding out on a new truck for several years now, as I was hoping for the JT to meet my main requirements:

1. 6 speed manual transmission
2. Minimum 6ft bed
3. 2 door or extra cab
4. Minimum of tech, just the basics, radio and AC.

I would also be interested in an extra cab. No need for extra doors, the front seat sliding forward will provide enough room to put Costco items in the back and for the dogs to jump in when going out to the trails. 90% of the time it is just me in the truck, with the other 10% of the time my wife joins me. I have no children, those days to have children have passed at 52.

If we need to haul people we have other vehicles designed to do that in comfort. There are also advantages to having a two door manual transmission truck. Most people can’t drive it so they will not ask me to borrow my truck, and you don’t get picked as a designated driver to take the gang to lunch, out to dinner...

I also think the market is significant for this type of vehicle as it been neglected by the other auto manufactures. Bottom line, I can’t buy a new two door truck with 4x4 and a manual transmission. I have slim pickings when it comes to an extra cab too. Either you have to go to the top of the line or it is a stripper 2x4 truck.

According to some, I’m in the less than 20% category that would buy a two door model if Jeep makes it. However I think there is a case to make money from this segment. I have no need for a 4 door and I put a higher priority on a 6ft. bed then seating for four. Just my $35k-$40k on the table... at that kind of money shouldn’t I get what I want and not have to compromise...

I agree with everything you said. There is a market for it, and Mark Allen knows it too. The feedback ever since the J6 was released has been very well received. I want my truck to be able to function as a truck with a decent bed. If I can throw some 37s on it and take the roof off also that’s a great added bonus haha. I see it being a huge success.

Wondering, let's see 15% (which is BS anyway cause a truck ain't a JL) but anyways times about 75,000 (which is BS anyway cause they'll make more annually) equals about say 11,000+.

So they would sell minimum 10,000 2 doors.

Anybody saying engineering reasons try not to blather on too long, lol, we heard all fake news reasons about why not and still believe in 2dr.

I think the 2 door looks better than the 4 door IMO. I have kids and need the room of the 4 door but I would jump all over that 2 door if they were to produce them. We would just have to use my wifes SUV to run kids around to baseball.

Coming from somebody that has kids and still would opt for the 2 door...interesting. It does look better. The proportions are off on the4 door and the way the rear doors are will be a nightmare for the backseat anyway.

Im not bent out of shape at all, forums are hard to tell tone based on posts. You guys are new on here and the 2 door thing was beat to death on here for months prior to the reveal.

This is the same a European Sports Wagons. I would buy a RS4 Avant in a heartbeat and if you read blogs like Jalopnik or Autoblog or go on Audi forums everyone in the U.S. is saying they want one. But the truth is its a very small group of buyers and out of the group even less will actually purchase NEW. Thats the key as a lot potential buyers simply wont fork up the money to buy new and that small group gets even smaller.
