Anyone throw on some bigger tires on the Overland wheels (with photos?:)

Was trying to decide if I want to put a bigger tire on the Overland wheel or pick up a set of Rubicon wheels.

Not sure the pros and cons of either except I do know that the 'street' tire of the Overland has to go.

the picture could be better, but this is what 35x12.5 BFG's look like on an overland stock rim. I love the way they drive, and they look bigger to me in person. I think the rim looks fine, and the tire doesnt look out of place on the stock rim. If i was buying new rims i would probably get 17's, and an inch wider so the 35's could have more volume, but using the stock rims saves some moolah.

That is exactly what I am talking about. Those look great. I think the stock Overland tire is a 32"? Maybe a 33"?

Your 35" didn't require any modification to fender or anything, correct?

no, its all stock. I have not tried any serious offroading with maximum articulation, and i suspect if i do i could rub a fender. But in normal operation there is plenty of clearance. I am thinking about getting the 2.5 inch rough country lift for the front. All i think i really need is a one inch coil spring spacer for the front, and that would make the two wheel wells have the same amount of space in them.

That is cool. Thanks for the pic.

I am thinking about the Rubicon (take-off) suspension upgrade. Tough to pass up at $500+/- (or put towards 2" lift).

Can you do a side profile shot? the Ko2's are a 35" but tire rack says they measure out at 34.5" diameter. I'm planning on 295/70/18 Falken Wildpeak, 34.3" but only $212 a tire

Been that route on my JKU Sahara. Put Cooper 33's on OEM rims. Cost $300 a tire. Bought a buddys JL Rubicon tire/rims for $1000. Now the spare has a good rim to do 5 tire rotation. ANd tires are cheaper in the future!!! And the plus is I like the rims better than the overlands

For some reason, I thought I read that the JT rims were made for the JT's additional weight, etc....didn't know if that would affect the ability to switch to JL/JLU rims......

JT rims were improved for towing, but Wrangler rims will still fit.

Yea, here is a side profile of the car and a closer shot of the front wheel. Those falkens look like a good deal at 212. I do love the way these BFG's look through, the mud tire just looks mean. But i bet i would be happier with the actual driving manners of those falkens. Most of the offroading i do is fire road gravel type stuff, so these BFG tires are overkill.

Off topic, but what running board / rock rail is it that you're using there? I've seen it on a couple of other JT's. Looks really good.

i havent changed it out, i think its the stock overland running board. if it isnt then the dealer replaced it and didnt charge me, which seems unlikely, but they did change out the tires before i got it as well, and of course i did pay for the tires at a +20% of what tire rack pays. oh well.
