I have a habit of opening my door when I'm backing my boat into the water and the damn thing shifts to park, can't be good for tranny.
gotta plug your seat belt in behind you, or get one of those obd2 tazer things. I hear they can turn it off.

Man, Ill tell you... this wasn't thought out well for a tow vehicle! Super annoying. I just got a tazer yesterday, one of the first things I'll disable.

i've never owned a truck, but I find it annoying I can't see the bed at all from the rear view. Guess i should have been born taller?

NICE bit of insight. I'll keep an eye out, It could simply have been the door really wasn't closed all the way.

I've got my checklist printed out for next time!.....j/k, but maybe I should print it. :movember:
so today i left work, just before I put the car in drive, noticed the dome lights were on....ODD. Opened the door, closed it, lights went out.

So apparently I have a habit of not shutting my driverside door hard enough.

May be a jeep thing. Started having the issue first time around in JK (CJs didnt seem to have an issue lol). Well sealed cabin with the vents in the back, requires a stiff pull when shutting. Now my wifes problem is slamming the doors on some of other vehicles so hard that you create a standing wave across the surrounding pavement. You'll adapt.

707- Same thing happened to me today. Strange thing was how the Jeep was still in drive and didn't crawl away after I was completely out of the vehicle.

Vehicles that shut down when the driver door is opened are really annoying. Sometimes you have to open a door to back in to a tight spot etc. Granted forgetting to put it in Park and getting completely out is a different story.

Yeah it's a little wacko. Yesterday with doors off and no belt I could backup just fine. Then all of a sudden, auto-park. Weird.

I have had the same issues multiple times and have narrowed down my problem to two things I do. First, if the door is not fully shut it will engage. Second, I am way too fast for the electronics. I jump in start and try to drive. I actually need to wait like 3-4 seconds and let all the electronics catch up before shifting into D or R. Once autopark engages I have to shut down completely, open and close door, start, wait for 3-4 seconds, then shift. Slowing my impatient butt down helped more than anything...

I believe that when you take the doors off and disconnect the wiring that Auto Park feature is disabled.

So how do you drive with the doors off if the door has to be closed to drive

correct.
When you unplug the door harness, it turns the choke collar system off.

So if you're annoyed with autopark just unplug the door harness. Leave the door on though.

Hmmm so why did auto-park engage with my doors off and seatbelt undone, then worked just fine when I plugged my seatbelt in?

Jeep Gladiator Gladys is sick. Auto-park keeps engaging when going to R or D. 20190824_230807
