...not sure. I had a 1979 Big/10 that had a fiberglass tank with a switch on the floor. I don’t thing you could get by with that today.
Early Bronco's had an aux tank w/ a floor switch as well = worked perfect until the plastic tank would get brittle from the gasoline & crack...

Ecodiesel JT's will come with a DEF tank, the one on my GC is 8 gallons. Delete DEF & you have a perfect spot for 8 additional gallons of fuel if you can integrate the space with the main tank space.

Oh...and I’ve read in several locations that the 3.0L is a Gen 2 version offering higher HP &TQ numbers than the one that had problems. My take is that they’ve addressed the issues and have tweaked the power...

This is exactly what I’m hoping for...

Titan is a tank manufacturer that seems responsive to these issues. I have a 2006 chevy 2500HD Duramax that came with a ridiculous 26 gallon tank. I replaced it with a 52 gallon tank. Much better for pulling a15,000 pound toy hauler that contained a CJ7.

UPDATE!

I just got an email from the director of product development at Transferflow.

Apparently they are considering developing a larger fuel tank for the Glad and asked me what size I thought would be desirable. I said a 30 gallon tank would be ideal.

Keep our fingers crossed!

Just looked at the Transferflow website. Lowest cost for their replacement truck tanks is $995. Then you have to get it installed -- another $300(?). While the 20 gallon tank needs to be bigger, for that kind of money I will just fill the truck up more often... heck, have to stop to clear bugs or snow off the windshield anyway.

Well this is more for long range driving off-road where there isn’t a gas station every 10 miles! Even with that increased range it could be entirely possible that I will have to carry additional fuel.

on the last expedition I went on we spent a week in the desert and was in 4wd low or high for the entire time. The truck I had (a 79 Series LC) had a 130L fuel tank and we carried 7 additional 20 L fuel tanks. We rolled into town with 1/8 of a tank left..
The previous week we were able to drive the entire time just using the 130L (34 gal.) fuel tank so it will just depend on what you do.
