Is the JT manual transmission shifter connected mechanically to the tranny, or is it some fly by wire electronic thing?
from what i understand it is a asain d478 tranny, the same as a JL, which is cable operated rather than solid linkage. Some like it for its car like smoothness, some dont because it doesnt feel notchy like a typical truck and have had bad luck with front wheel drive car with cable shifted trannys. I think it should be fine for many years of highway/offroad wheeling.

Can't say I noticed any smell from it. Plenty of new car smell to go around, but not from the clutch.

Not slipping it excessively I assume?
Yeah might’ve been slipping excessively at first as I’m getting to know the new clutch, and I might be confusing some of the new car smells.

I went for a longer drive today to test it out and seems to be working well now at the 400 mile mark.

I’m just going to chalk it up to user error!

I can say that I did experience this over the first hundred miles. Typically felt it more in 2nd moving to 3rd. Over the next couple hundred miles, that sound did go away. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for it.

I did have a question for the thread, how long does it typically take for that new clutch smell to go away? I’m at about 300 miles and I can definitely still smell it. I haven’t driven a manual in a while and wanted to make sure it wasn’t me!
I'm glad to know that the sound went away for you. I'm one of them that hear this sound but I'm still only at 1k mileage. Do you think you adjusted the way you were driving/shifting after the first few hundred miles or stay the same consistently?

Yeah, it seems to have gone away but I haven’t really been paying attention. The way I’ve been driving has definitely changed over the first few hundred miles as I’ve gotten to know it. I’ll continue to monitor and post if I notice any of the noises others have seen.

I've got you on slippage and user error.

For all my planning and research, I never noticed the reverse lockout ring. Never had one, didn't know it existed.

Pick up my new Jeep, which is parked sitting nose uphill. Go all the way left on the shifter, back one to the right and try to go. Stall, stall stall. Finally did get it going...

In 3rd gear. With much revving and slipping. Ugh.

I do much better now that I know where the gears are. :like:

I do feel like they could have just given us a 7-spd. 911s have them, so why not a 7spd manual Gladiator? It could get rid of that huge gap from 2-3...

I did the exact same thing on a test drive for fear that i would accidentally start in reverse for going all the way left. Once i realized the lock out ring keeps it from reverse access it was all good after that. In fact, 1st seems almost too short, and starting out in second wasnt too bad (especially if youre trying to jump across lanes after a turn in a median).

if any of you MT's (@Berserker556 ) are thinking about directly going with a suspension lift and are on the waiver about 35/37 on tire size, this youtuber has just begun his build and went 3.5" fabtech and 37's on a Sport S MT and seems to like the set up. He talks alot, but within his monologue you hear some key comments of satisfaction from his point of view. I think im still going to go 2" mopar with 35's, but this clip definitely put 37's with a MT in good lighting.

That is pretty awesome.
I know that when I had my tj Rubicon it was perfect with 33's but came with 31's. I feel like Jeep has a bit of a *wink wink* /whisper "it's cool if you go 37's" kind of a thing going.

Eta: about the only other thing I would like to see is towing a small camper with 37's.
