Looking forward to a larger gas tank. GenRight been at it a long time. Nothing listed but I will send them a note. From the looks underneath my JT Sport there appears to be space for another 10-15% length of the stock tank? They have a few kits up to the JK models, so there is probably hope.

https://genright.com/gas-tanks/

"All GenRight Gas Tanks are Made in the USA, hand TIG welded, pressure tested, and CARB compliant (not CARB legal). They utilize your existing factory fuel pump or fuel module, and are 100% bolt in. Most tanks also come with a heavy duty 3/16" powder coated steel skid plate.

  • 100% TIG Welded 1/8" thick aluminum alloy tank.
  • Pressure tested for 24 hours to ensure each and every tank is completely sealed
  • All tanks come with a 3/16" thick steel skid plate (except BST tanks)
  • Accepts the factory fuel pump module (or fuel level sending unit).
  • Reuses all of the factory EVAP connections (no check engine lights).
GenRight's Auxiliary and replacement Fuel Tanks are available in a variety of options.

EXT - Allows for 4-5" of stretch (depending on the axle)

COMP - 6-7" of stretch (depending on the axle)

Enduro - No stretch, 5 gallons over stock

Safari - No stretch, 11 gallons over stock".

I have one of them on my TJ, allowed stretch and kept the tank under the jeep while still keeping my same # of gallons. It was expensive, but worth it.

I am waiting on them or another company to develop one.
IMHO we need to get the capacity up to at least 30 gallons so that those of us who travel in remote areas don’t run out of gas!
Jeep has to have figured out where they’re going to put the DEF tank for the upcoming diesel and I hope we can use that space for additional gas capacity.

please keep us posted if you here anything..

I'll be missing that going from my Chevy with a 26. I need to be able to get through/past Illinois, especially Chicago area, and not buy expensive crappy gas.

Good point - the diesels these days need that tank for emissions - so - what about that space?
My F250 had dual tanks. Loved that. I'd always run on the front tank until it got down to quarter tank. Then I switched.
That way when the rear tank was low I knew I could get to the next station - I kept that front tank quarter tank as reserve. There are simply some stations you don't want to have to stop at...........
I'm in if they ever offer anything for these.
Besides, our local grocery store chain has partnered up with Casey's Convenience stores and has "fuel saver" - every week there are specials, buy xxx and save so many cents - per gallon of gas. I've saved up enough to have a discount of 1 buck a gallon, even more, at times. They limit it to 20 gallons at a time and the "points" expire after 30 days - so we have to drive our vehicles until almost dry to be able to fill and use all 20 gallons and not give them a single penny back. Once you swipe that card it applies all of the pennies off to that fill - so if you get only 16 gallons that fill, you give them back that 25 cent or whatever number it is discount times the 4 gallons under 20 - I hate giving them back a buck! So we run until very empty. I got gas for about $1.45 last week and made sure my wife's Jeep was all but dry and took in all 20 gallons. I wasn't giving them back that extra!
I want big gas tank!

Lengthening the frame of the vehicle?
Yes. Essentially turn a TJ into an LJ without the big rear overhang.

The Genright stretch kit just moves the axes out though, to get a longer wheelbase.

Thank you for clarifying, because I have no idea how one would lengthen the frame of a truck by stretching it, thought those were single piece units

There was a thread on one of the other Jeep forums where the owner tracked his build.

Here's an example of a stretched TJ; note the space between the door and rear fender vs. stock:

I've done it - on a Ford truck so I could put a hydraulic dump box on it. You brace everything, cut the frame, move the back end of the frame back, weld in channels, use fish plates, etc and lengthen the frame. I did it on a tractor once to move the front wheels forward. It's harder on frames like Jeep uses on these but with open channel frames, piece of cake. (if you can weld worth a hoot and have the heavy jacks and stands and such)
I'd never try it on a Jeep - due to the way the frame is made. You also have to deal with driveshaft length, the brake lines and other fun stuff.
