Seems there's no metal on/around the hood. Nowhere. No place to mount my magnetic antenna for HAM radio + amp. Suggestions appreciated. Don't really want to mount this on my bumper, though that too is all aluminum..

Interested too.
The only thing I’ve heard of is a mount that screws to the front fender under the hood...

I bought the Quadratec fender mount kit and plan to put only the fuzzy velcro side on the mount that touches the paint. You route the antenna cable through the heat protection and it comes into the truck under the front drivers seat where the jeep rubber grommet is. They give you a replacement grommet that is cut with a hole in it. The directions are good. Installation looks super easy. Here are some pics of the kit.

Not a Ham, but I made this for the mag mount antenna on my county-issued VHF Low-Band Vertex. I had to get an antenna that did not require a ground plane.

Ham is mounted on drivers side, CB on passanger side. Mount is rubbed to allow contact to rest of body via mounting screw for a ground plane

Here's what I installed. A Comet RS-840 lip mount and a Diamond NR770HAB (2m/70cm) antenna. The only thing I dislike about this is the mini coax is exposed to potential damaged, accidental or otherwise

Do you get any interference or static with this mount and location. I have the same mount using a Ghost antenna and I get static over the radio when I have my left blinker on. The wire for the blinker I guess runs near there, but I've tried routing the antenna wire 3 different ways and still get static when the left flasher is on. Otherwise radio works fine, but it's annoying

I use a bedside stake hole mount. It requires no drilling and keeps the antenna at a slightly lower height so you can still enter parking garages.

Look at how you wired your radio. Where did you connect power and ground and where you routed them. Also make sure antenna mount has good ground.
