I got these steps for Christmas from my wife without my approval........ Surprise to me! Kidding, guess I’m lucky to have her try. Anyways. After putting them on and trying everything I can’t get the gap at the back to go away. No matter the adjustment it seems the Jeep side is contoured a little as it gets near the rear tire? The rails are straight. Anybody had this issue or noticed a contour or bend in the shape of the body there? Thanks

Thanks for that.

Ugh, that will drive me nuts. Im emailing with the company about it. So far they have tried to "trouble shoot". Waiting on a third reply now. Last email I advised it looks contoured and their rails are straight.

Yep, the body is curved. You can see it in this picture fairly well:

Yeah even the factory rock rails are curved. What rails are those? I'm looking for something that will mount to the body mounts, shaped like the ones in your pic and still capable of using the factory rails with them.

These are Rock Hard 4x4, but can’t be used with the factory rails (not sure why you would want both).

Paint the pinch seem black. Your problem will disappear. I promise.

These are ICI Magnum ( I think bought out by Rapture). They would not fit over any other running boards. Will try to post another picture.

Agree that's an option and will prob paint them regardless. But currently trying to work with the seller to see about a refund first. Hopefully they back up the product. Thanks for the help.

Yep, it’s curved. I had trouble installing some go rhino nerf bars, they we’re trying to use the same brackets for the whole bar which caused it not to lineup because the curve.

I ended up getting the Mopar take offs from somebody and they lineup perfect and align with the curve....

One thing I like about factory sidesteps versus aftermarket is most aftermarket companies are only offering 3 mount points, which shows one pinch seem and looks just off and not good. Factory steps have 4.

I would never paint part of my Jeep to cover up an issue that was caused because an aftermarket fabricator was being lazy and not being specific to the vehicle. If your not happy now, you most likely never will be completely, I would return and move on!

my Rough Country steps use four mounting points, presuming all of their other step products are the same as well

I have a set of the Rough Country Contoured steps sitting in my garage waiting to be installed, they curve with the body of the Gladiator. I would have them installed already if one of the eight brackets wasn't welded wrong. :( New bracket arrives Friday. If I remember, I'll post pictures of them after install showing how they align with the body. That gap would drive me crazy.

I like the way the factory rails cover the pinch seam entirely from end to end. All of the aftermarket stuff I have seen thus far has only covered it where they bolt up. Do the Rock Hard rails cover the entire seem? From the pic on their site it doesn't look like it does.

This was the issue I was having with the go rhino bars, one of the 4 was welded wrong and didn’t accommodate the curve. After them sending me about 5 brackets I got tired of it and returned them. I wish they could have got it right because I liked the bars for the money .

It appears most have seen do not cover the seam like the rock rails. They need to be very right and flush to cover it up. The only thing I have see that’s more like a step and covers the seam is the mopar extended rock rails and these:
