Although it does nothing to enhance the ride, horsepower or off-road capabilities, I installed my $17 Mopar knock-off eBay direct ship from China door sill entry guards.

Who cares that they say “角斗士” in the middle. I saved $60!

I installed my iDrive unit! Love it!!! Noticeably better throttle response! Talked to Chris at iDrive this evening, and he explained a lot about the unit, and how it works. Now everything makes more sense on how to utilize it properly. Now that I know about this thing and how it works, I think I will be enjoying it even more. Highly recommend this thing...Especially once I add my Tazer and recalibrate the truck for my 37's. It still set for the stock 33's, so everything is kind of wonky because all the shift-points and speedometer are off.

Their customer service is awesome. I was confused about the face plate colors, and he's sending me a free black face plate for it, because of the confusion. I would have been glad to buy one, but he offered to send me one for free. That's going above and beyond. They get my recommendation. :like:

Advice Wanted:

I know all the mods that I want to make (for now, list below) but I cannot decide on the order.
We (my wife and I) have our first NEW jeep, Gladiator Rubicon, white. Years ago we bought a used 2007 JK-u Rubicon and liked it a lot, but it died. Now, a Rubicon is quite off-road capable, even at stock; but, leaving a jeep (almost any jeep) stock is like going somewhere exciting for vacation but staying in the hotel the entire time because "It's just fine the way it is", "We've already spent so much to get here, why go out and spend more?", "Let's just read about things other people are doing when they're here, but not actually do any of them."

Anywho, my big question here is: For off roading, should I lift and get aggresive 37's first OR should I get a winch first? I guess the deeper question to my question is, offense or defense? Is it better to be able to recover yourself if you get stuck; or, is it better to have more clearance and traction so that you can better avoid being stuck? Both are important, yes, but for money and time's sake, if you had to choose only one, what would you choose?

Also, We don't off road every weekend, so that is a factor, but we go when we can. (BONUS question, anyone know any good trails around SW Iowa that aren't flooded out?)

To further help with background, I'll list all the major mods that I'd like to put on.
[For the lift and tires "Package"] ~$5.5K
-Mopar 2in. Lift
-Another set of stock rims (so that we can change out tires when we want to do crawling or trails since this will also be our daily driver)
-Nitto ridge grapplers
-Adjustable Stabilizer
-Amp Powersteps/rock slider
[For the winch "Package"] ~$3K
-Warn platinum zeon 10s
-Warn winch adapter to stock steel jK/JT bumper
-fairlead & back plate
-Mopar winch guard
-Warn neoprene cover
-winch kit (straps, gloves, hook, snatch block, and shackles)
-maximus stealth mounted plate holder (because Iowa requires front plate)

First off, congrats on the Jeep, and welcome to the forum!

Secondly, this isn't really the place to post your question. You'll probably have better luck starting your own thread under the general discussion or introduction threads. There are dozens of posts a day on this thread from people showing off their new modifications, so your post will get buried pretty quickly.

To (try to) answer your question though, if you're dead set on those two options, it depends on how you plan to use your rig. If you're going straight to rock crawling, grab a lift and tires for clearance and wheel with friends. If you're in to getting off grid or traveling solo through the back country, get a winch.

Personally, mine is built for overland and sustained, solo travel off the beaten path. Having said that, between those two options, I would personally choose a winch. Then again, I would never go up to 37s either because it'd be counterintuitive for how I use my rig, but everyone has different tastes. I put 35s on mine with no lift and am completely happy for now, until one of my trips shows me that I need to make further adjustments.

In my opinion, give it a month or two of ownership...take it off road a few times as-is and see for yourself what you need. Like you said, the Rubicon is ridiculously capable stock. You may find out that you'd prefer interior changes, or more lighting, or sliders/skids first instead.

Installed some Hooke Road roof rack cross bars. Amazon $130. Seemingly adequate for paddle boards, kayaks and canoes especially with bed extender bar assist.

Looks great - I am going to check them out, thanks! Where did you get the extension in your hitch? I have the same issue with 12' 6" SUPs and 10' 6" kayaks.
