Man, I would think the bed sides would be stronger than the Trail Rail attachment.
Yeah, I'm no engineer, but I would assume the bed sides would support more than eight 8mm bolts that hold the trail rails on.

Please keep us posted on your mounting findings. Once I get mine I'll try to figure it out too. Mines going to be slightly different cuz I have @BuiltRight rails based on unistrut I think.

Once some of these caps are in peoples hands it will all get figured out.
I thought the “critical” mount shimming directions were lacking. I don't really buy into the rails taking most of the weight. I think you can affect the preload between the rails and the bed sides with the shims but any weight applied to the cap once all the hardware is tight is going to be equally shared by the rails and sides.
It has to be more important to get the gasket properly seated everywhere.
I'm just thankful there was no sticky foam tape involved. That always was a mess years down the road if you removed the cap.

well wait before you buy the RSI, 3 of us on here will be showing off the Alu-Cabs soon enough.

@smlobx , i got a call from Eric, mine is supposed to arrive by this weekend; however, he didn't get me a tracking number, so who knows.

Yeah, communication is not his strong point...
He did call me yesterday and my appointment is for Wednesday morning so we'll go down the day before (it's a 5 hour drive) and hang out in Ashville if anything's open.

I'll try and take some pictures of what they do and if there are any written instructions I'll take a picture of those as well.

Hopefully by the end of next week those Alu-Cab's will be out in the wilds of the US of A!!

Looks like load bars for roof are on top, side cabinet thingy on the left, table strapped to the back. My kids will have lots of fun with the cardboard, and my wife will be cranky until she forces me to recycle it in 3 weeks. "As is tradition!"

dangit,

It's some wicked cardboard too. Honeycomb core and about an inch thick. The rigid corner pieces can be pulled off and all the panels are then loose.
I saved most of mine for future reuse.

Well, found a pretty serious flaw/design oversight with the cap today. No where was there any mention that you couldn't haul your bicycle anymore.......
I'd turn the handlebars down but they already are......
If I lay it on its side the kerosene will leak out of my hub lamp.......
Best Social Distancing bike there is!

Typical? They are also referred to as a “Normal” bicycle.
When bicycle chain came about they all became “Safety” bicycles.
I hadn't ridden a bike in 30 years when I picked this up. Took about 3 days of practice to get the hang of the mount and dismount. A true hoot to ride if you don't mind a bit of attention! Nobody pays attention to regular bikes. EVERYBODY sees you on this! Pretty fun looking down into pickup trucks..... Ring the brass bell and you get waved thru.
Never thought it was possible to relive the glee and excitement you had when your a little kid ditching training wheels the first time. Get into the saddle of this and it happens all over.
Just great fun.

I did do a test of the 3 LED lights in the cap. The brown wire is positive. Went real cheesy for the test....plugged a 12vdc wall wart into the bed 110v outlet. Lamps do a good job although one of them has a messed up switch that wiggles about and is intermittent in function.
