My cap freight box had a sticker referencing date of manufacture of 3/5/20. The serial number of the cap is 3524. Leads me to believe my cap is #24 of manufacture.
The cap s/n is located inside, center of rear frame, above the window.
Who's got low number?

I did do a test of the 3 LED lights in the cap. The brown wire is positive. Went real cheesy for the test....plugged a 12vdc wall wart into the bed 110v outlet. Lamps do a good job although one of them has a messed up switch that wiggles about and is intermittent in function.
I’m curious.. is there only a white led light or is there red also?
The reason I ask is because the ones we rented in Africa were both...

The three interior lamps are just white. There is an 4th exterior red brake light separately wired. Having a red option would be nice. I appreciate an all red light campsite. Has alot of merit.
I will say the interior lights have pretty cheesy on/off switches built into them that will be a problem. I can see having to do away with them and using something else.

Good news/Bad news.

Good news, I was talking to my 6 year old about the topper coming tomorrow and showed him a video of a roof top tent, I guess he was so excited he told my wife all about it.

Bad news, i checked the tracking and for some reason my expected deliver changed from Monday to Friday. :(

Led string lighting is pretty inexpensive, it would be nice to have both red and white that you can turn on independently. Aren't there some LED lighting that you can change to like ANY color? Velcros the remote to the inside of the topper.

The stock lights do a good job with illumination. I'm happy with that. The slide switches are junk. I'm going to pop them apart, defeat the switch and use something better to switch all three at once.

Finally getting around to sharing my install, the drive home from the freight company would have been a lot more nerve-racking had it been a steel canopy! This this is crazy light for how strong it is.

Install was super easy, just as long as you have a way to lift it up onto your bed walls. Really happy the bike fits as easy as it does. The MTB will be trickier...

Now I just just need to decide how I want to wire the lights up. Probably going to tap into the passenger side taillight harness for the CHMSL then cross my fingers that the bed outlet's transformer is is in the rear so I can tap into the 12V feed there. I don't want to run wire all the way to the front! :crying:

Hey, thanks for sharing the bike inside photo. This is the main reason I wanted the Gladiator with a topper. I work for DeFeet the cycling sock and accessories company and I like to keep my Mtb or Gravel bike with me all the time. Nice Salsa btw.

Hit me up if you ever need a discount code for socks.

you need to post that in the finally the bed hauling thread! best photo of the bed use i've seen. ALSO, your truck looks bad ass with that topper on it. HEY! i got a white JT with black fenders. Yours might be the best looking white top black fender i've seen. MIGHT make me wonder if gator will be better with green or black top, black fender, and my Alu-Cab! Thanks for sharing.

This is why the Alu-Cab is the best IMO, Look at how OPEN that thing is! The rear corners take up very little space. So much access with still the same amount of covered cargo area as RLD, RSI.

SO OPEN!

After several trips in my old JKU with 1 or 2 bikes in the back, that's what sold me on the Gladiator! Painful waiting so long for a bed cap though. Was really hoping there would be a Mopar option out of the gate...

My old MTB had to mount on the far side and rest at an angle sadly, taking up lots of space. Really wish there was a 6ft bed option. I might have to get into the practice of taking the rear wheel off too and mounting that somehow, much more tedious though...

I go through biking socks like no body's business... I might take you up on that! Thanks!

Thanks man! It's definitely a dream I've had since the rumor mill started way back when, It's coming together!

Agreed!! The access is amazing. Opens up so many possibilities! Crazy how tough and light the thing is too. I'm real glad I listened to Smlobx's favorable words towards Alu-Cab! (Thanks @smlobx ! :like:)

Your truck and cap do look great! The weight of these caps are a real bonus.
What is the fork mount your using for your bike? Need to see if my E fattie will fit in the bed like that. Might have to air down the rear tire to close the tailgate....
