I tried to remove the body mount bolts yesterday. They are all installed crazy tight, much tighter than on my JK. The middle ones on both sides broke the nut loose from the welds. These are clearly bad welds. I talked to a builder who said he had this happen on an LE, and mine is an LE. He said there were some early weld issues. This happened while REMOVING the bolt so clearly it can't be my fault. But I wonder how Jeep is going to handle it. I'm going to try calling shortly and start a case. Meanwhile I'm posting to hear from others who have had weld issues, and for ideas. One idea from that builder is to cut a "D" shape in the pocket, fold it open, replace the nut, and weld it back. I can handle that, except maybe welding the nut in, as my MIG torch seems like it would be too big. It's also ludicrous that I'd need to cut open a brand new $60k vehicle.

I guess I should tag @JeepCares to see if they have some suggestions.

Hi @SwampNut,

We're sincerely regret to hear that this has happened! As the Customer Care Team, we are not mechanically trained and therefore we rely on the diagnosis of the dealer. We can certainly have a case escalated for additional support while you are in service. Please send us a private message once you have an appointment scheduled.

Bad welds on the nuts. This has happened before a few times to members on this forum. Here is the latest post on this problem, maybe, these members can help ?

They are finishing it up today. They even agreed to install the rails at a nominal cost so I don't have to deal with it, and they sent a guy to pick them up from my house. I love this dealer and my SA.

@JeepCares are there some Jeep cookies or something we can send my service advisor? Mike Harrington at Moore Jeep. Just turned a stressful problem into nothing.

We are happy to hear that Mike at Moore Jeep was able to resolve this for you! After service, you will receive an email survey. If you provide feedback regarding your positive experience, it will benefit your dealer! :)

@JeepCares Can you help my dealership figure this out? @SwampNut sounds like he had a great response from his dealer. My dealership is Poway Jeep in San Diego California. Chris Knight is the service manager.

The response they gave me was to FIRST start a case with your dealer, and THEN only contact them if you need further help. Basically it's the dealer's job to take care of you, and FCA should only get involved if you perceive you're not getting what you need. That's when I got the great response from my dealer and it was just handled.

If its loctite on the bolts, heating them up with a propane torch prior to removal will probably prevent this weld failure.

Do not use a torch, you'll melt the rubber. Induction torch or heat gun. I'm driving to @SwampNut jeep dealer since they know what's up

Wait, you are seriously driving here to Phoenix?? It took them days to do mine, and had to order parts. Did you arrange this ahead of time?

@SwampNut Yes, I spoke with Mike yesterday. Going to get all the parts, then when ready, I'll drive out, get a hotel nextdoor and drive back when done
