I traded in an 18 Grand Cherokee for my Gladiator... Thing was an electrical nightmare. I would have the entire dash flash all sorts of lights at me, would drop out the entire 8.4" screen. It was back at the dealer several times, and was returned only being reset.

I even brought in a video of the issues. The dealer said they could not replicate the issue and it was once again reset and sent on my way. At one point they had the thing for a week and found no issues. Tried passing it off as a grounding issue they couldn't locate.

Wish at the time I was on more forums like this so I could have discovered jeepcares... Although if not for those problems I more than likely woulnt have the gladiator that I absolutely love.
VERY interesting as this 2018 GC is the FIRST Jeep we've had with electrical issues other than decades ago a Cherokee had a bad crank position sensor.

*Update* My vehicle has been at the dealer for a week. Dropped off on (8/24). They were changing the pitman arm also. Not sure why a 1.9 hour job according to the TSB would take all week. Frustrated to say the least. @JeepCares is involved.
*Update 2* I really cannot make this stuff up. So after having my JT at the dealer for a week. SA calls today to say that the TSB parts were never actually ordered. The tech never read the TSB. He just ordered a standard steering box, which didn’t correct anything. So I’m now going on week two to get the TSB implemented. Unfortunately the dealer told me and @JeepCares that the repairs were made! That’s not truthful.
What a joke.

Shame so many folks are having issues with their dealers.
Has anyone who successfully had the TSB completed put their synergy brace back on?

What could he turn 30 degrees to actually FIX it - he said turn the wheel. Basically, his comment made no sense. It he had the steering wheel turned and then lined the front wheels up straight, then you'd drive with a cocked steering wheel.
Maybe you meant that HE meant if he turned the steering wheel when driving it 30 degrees then it went away - of course it would because the pinion would be turned and the play (or preload) would change.
If he's saying that, he's saying your steering gear (or box as internet people call it) is bad.
So to try and clear this up- I met the guy to buy a tonneau cover from Craigslist( I’m going on vacation for Labor Day and didn’t want to rush a major purchase so I spent $80 for a 3 month old Tyga tri-fold). We talked for a few minutes and I asked him how his steering was. He motioned visibly how far he has to turn his wheel while driving to make it go straight which was significant but I wasn’t sure how to write that amount. If I had to guess the motion he made was a 30 degree turn and I’d also guess that he may have exaggerated. I didn’t know how to write all of that out so I tried to describe how he motioned his two hands. Either way I was pretty surprised by the amount he was describing, further surprised that he didn’t know about the safety bulletin and then I was grateful for this forum because that’s how I knew and also the reason I was informed prior to purchase. The amount of information on here is amazing

Even 15 degrees is a lot.
I think I FINALLY get what you are saying, sorry.
Yeah, if he had to turn anything close to that........... wow.

I posted a couple days ago about my terrible experience with my local dealer...

I placed a call to a different dealer about 40 miles away and explained what was going on. He hadn't heard of the TSB but pulled up it up while on the phone with me and verified what I told him over the phone. He called me today and told me my parts would be here tomorrow and asked when I wanted to bring it in.

I have never stepped foot in this dealership and they are already going above and beyond IMO. My point is that if you're getting push back from your dealer, try reaching out to another dealer and you may be surprised.

I had my speedometer and TPMS adjusted by a local shop when I upgraded to 35s, before I went in for the TSB fix. After I picked up my JT looks like my settings went back to factory :(
That’s what I’m worried about! Thanks for the info!

Got mine repaired yesterday, it is a huge improvement! The truck actually tracks straight and doesn't wander at highway speeds. Now I have to relearn how to drive it, no more sawing the wheel back and forth to keep it straight. :like:
I liken what some folks went through to the old TV shows and movies that show people driving and they are constantly moving the wheel back and forth. I used to laugh and think - they are going to wear out that steering gear and tie rods - or cops will think they are drunk jumping back and forth like that. But in the case of the JT - in some cases is was needed just to stay between the lines.

I read yesterday that one dealer actually put all that back on....... can't recall which thread, this or the steering stabilizer thread that covers this issue, too.
It's going to depend on the dealer, I suspect......?

I wonder as well - my understanding is the 4 bolts are larger and the steel housing.......

I still vote that you call them and ask.
Well now I’m on hold
They have the steering gear/box BUT NO NEW NUTS AND BOLTS!!
The Service rep told me they didn’t realize the bolts wouldn’t come with the steering gear since it needed new bolts as prescribed by TSB so he’s called a bunch of dealers (don’t know what good that will do no one else has them) and “the Depot” (don’t know what that means) and is hoping to have the part by Monday/Tuesday so I’m in a loaner Compass (man is it tiny!!) until Monday.
Anyone know if this is something I contact @JeepCares about?
@JeepCares can you assist my dealership in getting the bolts? As of right now the dealership is being fantastic but he said they have 4 other Gladiators in for the TSB and can only order parts 1x a week...I don’t want to be pushed back 4 weeks!!
I sure would like my truck back, need it too and I was looking forward to it being fixed I was so excited and now it’s hurry up and wait!

Exact same thing happened to me - steering gear came in today but bolts won't be here until next week. They said they got the gear and found the bolts were not with it.
"The depot" is basically a warehouse, parts depot, a distribution point.

Sounds like you’re next in line for the TSB. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Others on here have mentioned their service department never had the bolts either. Seems like a common miss during ordering. That said, there are others who got it right the first time. I don’t think it’s something that needs to be escalated to Jeep Cares compared to some things others have mentioned about their service departments. Either way...you’ll be really happy when you do get this fix!
