Any hope for a manual diesel option?

Will there be a 6-speed option in the future?

As in title. Is there any possibility we would see a 6-speed + diesel?

FCA does not have any manual transmissions that could handle that much torque. It is very, very unlikely.

Will never happen. Ever. There are multiple reasons and emissions testing is one of them.

Are the emissions the reason that we don't get the diesel manuals like Australia does? Almost every truck has a manual diesel variant (Mazda BT manual 4cyl 3L turbo diesel, Isuzu D-Max, Ford Ranger manual 5cyl 3.2L diesel etc)

What about the 2019 Ram 2500 with a 6.7-liter inline six-cylinder Cummins diesel engine and a G56 six-speed manual transmission? They did cancel it but it was still going for a while.

Yep. EPA testing is why sports cars like Camaro and Challenger used the "skip shift" feature that forced you to skip certain gears in normal driving as far back as the 1990s. And it's why NO light duty diesel 4x4 engine ever sold in the U.S. from any brand over the last 20 years has been offered with a manual trans. With an automatic trans, it's easy for the automaker to control the powertrain and generate predictable emissions and therefore it's easy to get passed for sale.

The Ram 2500/3500 did have a stick shift option with the Cummins for a while but that was because the sales of those were high enough to justify the additional certification and testing costs. But as you noted, with 8, 9, and 10 speed autos becoming the norm these days the manual transmission is becoming extinct.

I was actually surprised that FCA offered it with the gas engine on the JL and JT. I think they only reason they did was because Toyota was still offering it on Tacoma.

last 20 years? Do you mean half-ton trucks vs 3/4-ton and up? Because GM stopped in 2006, Ford stopped in 2011 and Ram stopped in 2018 with their Duramax, Powerstroke, and Cummins engines respectively (obviously 3/4-ton and up)

that said, I agree - I don’t think FCA will ever sell the ecodiesel with a manual. But I’d probably be on board if they did.
