I think you’ll be waiting a bit. It took a long time for Apple CarPlay to come about and this is predominantly an Apple based app.

But there are so many android phones/ I would really love to just run the one screen without additional stuff, though admittedly the JT has more room than the CJ

That’s because androids are cheap garbage with a 3rd-rate OS. Therefore, much easier and cheaper to produce and sell.

I am a premium user of Gaia and I would say not a very experienced one. I find the CarPlay version a little clunky in that there are few options to change parameters while running the program. What I mean to say is that map layerings and opacity levels need to be setup on your device in order to display them on CarPlay. If you want a change you need to change your device. Not optimal while on the move.

Are there maps on there that rambrr doesn't have? I currently have ramblr and I'm happy with it but I'm always trying to find new trails and I don't know if it would be worth upgrading over the basic map that also shows some trails. Do they also show different trails than DNR maps of the counties?

Awesome. I have a lot of saved routes on my Samsung tablet. Wish I knew this before I bought my RAM track mount.

I really wish someone would incorporate the DeLorme Gazetteer maps into an app... I miss my red books, but love the convenience of having live turn by turn guidance.

I have been using Gia GPS for about 6 months now. I found a great coupon code on an overland website that bought me 5 years for a round $100. It’s an amazing app, but takes time to get used to all the functions. I still struggle at times, but can always figure it out. A great feature is it can be directly linked to trailsoffrod.com routes. Just click save to Gia GPS and it’s there. I have used it with CarPlay but have not used this new feature yet, but looking forward to seeing how it performs. I did get the free 6 moth trial for Jeep Wave of OnX Offroad, and while simpler, it just doesn’t compare to Gia.

I know this is an old thread, but it was maybe yesterday's app update that it now works with Android Auto.
