You can, and they will. I'm betting 2022 or 2023 MY. My point is that it won't result in a higher towing capacity. Like the diesel, it would tow loads better than the 3.6 all else being equal.

Just my 5 cents (we don't have pennies in Canada anymore, so I can't give you 2 cents).
I take 5 cents and put it towards the HEMI

While that might be true on a pure peak power level there's no substitute for that visceral experience of V8.
This I will agree with. These bolt-on and tuned 2.7L EcoBoosts making 500+ to the wheels will absolutely destroy a 392 Hemi. But, the 392 will send chills up your spine everytime you push the start button and that's an experience you can't replace with a V6, turbos or not.

Keep in mind that "marginally larger engine compartments" can equate to much more volume of air movement. The towing limitation is cooling; that's why the JT has larger grill slots than the (non-V8) JL. A slightly larger opening made enough addition CFM to increase towing ability. Considering the 392 Wrangler has the Gladiator grill, that tells me that is does in fact come down to cooling.

As long as Jeep keeps the iconic 7-slot grill (which it will never give up, and it never should) we will be limited to what can be under the hood and how much it can tow.
Mesh front grill. Jeep gets to keep the 7-slot their known for and they get a lot more air in. Win-win?

Man this thing is hot. Thank you Ford Bronco as you forced FCA's hand to shove in a V8. I love that it comes with a 2" Mopar lift and 33's by default. I can't wait for the Gladiator version to come out.

Not sure I understand; the openings in the plastic mesh behind the slots is supposed to maximize the volume of air passing through. The holes are larger than on the JL, in addition to the wider slots.

Is there a mesh that replaces those that has a higher volume of air flow?

it’s pretty tough to beat the experience of shifting your own gears...I’ll take the pentastar v6 manual over the v8 auto everyday that ends in y

I felt the same way until I drove a Wrangler Ecodiesel. I had a 3.6l + 6spd and you had to wring the everlovin’ Crap out of it to get to its power, then it’s time to shift again. With the 3.0l power is all below 3 grand + 8 speeds to keep the rpm’s where they need to be, it’s a Potent package. I will likely never go back even if they offer one w/the V8 (Unlikely)
If I wanna row gears, I always got my 4BT Scrambler ;-)

Probably available to order in 2021 as a 2022 model
they are on the production line right now, available 1st quarter of 2021... so it will be a 2021 model.

Ok, think of our grill as it is currently. Now think of that grill, but not longer solid plastic, but mesh...

Ah, so the actual painted part of the grill being mesh vs. just the portion inside the slots? Interesting idea...the mesh could even be painted to still give the appearance of the iconic 7-slots.

Personally I think Jeep should just make a full-sized truck based on the RAM platform with a higher towing capacity and payload for those that really need it.

And make it look like this:

got my upgrade offer in the mail today to switch from a 2020 into a 2021 gladiator. If they want my money for another gladiator they need to put the 392 in or at least the 4XE. I loved my gladiator until the 392 reveal. Now I am indifferent and it feels like an inferior truck lol. first world problems....

I agree it is going to be a bragging rights model. $90k is a lot of cheddar; I don't think it will be that much. Keep in mind it is the dealer markup that is charging $10k-15k for a 2" lift and tire package, not Jeep. From the factory, it will be cheaper; though like any limited edition model, the dealer will mark it way over MSRP to try and capitalize on perceived demand.
If you pay 10-15k for a 2” lift and tires you are the dumbest person on the face of planet earth.
