On my sport s with tow max I fit 35x12.50 with a small amount of rub at full lock with no lift on stock wheels

Yes and yes. Might have to try a couple different tire places, some won't put wide tires on the narrow wheels.
Might rub, wheel spacers can cure it.

Most the big name tire stores will not mount a 35x12.5x17 tire on a stock 17x 7.5" wide wheel. But, they will mount a 315/70r17, which is about the same size.
It can be done, and I did it on my previous JK. I just had to go to a local guy.

Discount tire posts tire specs on the site, including manufacturer recommended wheel sizes. They’ll go by the specs. At least that’s how it works at the one near me.

Sport Max Tow with 35x12.50 bfg mts. Ran these without a lift but eventually added a 2” spacer because it rubbed off-road. It now has rubicon front coils with a 2” front and 3/4” rear coil spacers. this week added 1 1/2 wheel spacers and am very happy with the stance.

Why would you want the tires extending beyond the fenders? I see no functional reason to do that.

1. Allows you to run a larger tires which improves ground clearance
2. Wider stance performs better on and off road
3. Looks way better

To the OP, the answer is yes. If you are concerned with running a 12.5 wide tire on a stock rim look into the kendas. They are a 35x10.5R17. There is a whole thread about them here with a lot of pics and info...best part is you can find them for around $170-190 a tire.

I'm interested in the Black Rhino Abrams and Kendas as well. This photo from December looks like you have a lift or leveling kit compared to the photo from earlier in 2020. What did you use for this? Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the late reply. I used a teraflex 1.75 spacer in front and daystar .75 for rear. But ran the kendas on stock suspension for a while before putting on the spacer lift with no problem.

This is incorrect. I bought my tires from discount tire. 35x12.5R17 Duratracs on stock rims. NTB would do it too.
Discount tire’s customer service is far superior. If you have one, go there.

I did. Discount Tire was the shop who would not mount some used Grabber Red Label 37x12.5x17, but they would do a 315 Patagonia. Maybe each tire brand has their own wheel width requirements. DT follows the manufacturer width requirements for insurance purposes.

You'll need the higher Rubicon fender flares...
