The tire will crown under normal pressure causing premature wear on the center tread and a smaller contact patch which reduces cornering and braking tread contact. That is why.
So, it’s purely a tire wear issue…

Not entirely. Smaller wear section is correlated to undersized contact patch which is a safety concern, as well, in limited traction environments (rain, snow). In order to spread that contact patch back to a "regular" contact would require running a lower pressure. That would wreck your fuel economy. So the cons outweigh the pros with a poor mans beadlock.

Gotcha. I was actually more concerned with any safety issues airing down Offroad…

I am considering doing this right out of the box on the stock rims. I know they’re about 10lbs heavier each than the stock tires, any loss in power or mpg? Any pics of your setup?
2022 Gladiator Rubicon. Just put Nitto Recon Grapplers 35/12.50/17 using stock wheels. Plenty of clearance. I don’t notice any difference in overall drive ability. About 4 lbs heavier than stock Wildpeaks. Based on RPMs and associated MPH, I expect mpg to be about the same

2020 Rubicon with General Grabbers 35/12.5/R17, no issues. Can't speak to the MPG since I put the steel bumper and winch on about the same time.

I run 37" Ridge Grapplers in the summer on KMC wheels and in the winter I use 35" KO2's on the stock 7.5" wheels. I air down all the time on both sets of tires and have never had an issue. I've also had no abnormal wear on the KO2's which I was concerned about since they are spec'd for a 7.5" wheel. I run 35 psi on the highway with the KO2's. My JT just has the 2" Mopar lift.

Stock 2022 Rubicon with Nitto 35X12.50 on stock wheels, no issues or rubbing. Have not had it flexed yet but will update once I get it off-road and flex it out.

As someone that has a set of 315/70r17 KO2 on stock 2020 LE wheels and a 2023 Rubi with the MT Baja Boss AT 255/85r17, I MUCH prefer the Micky Thomson.

They ride a bit stiffer, but are quieter on the road, fit the wheels better, do GREAT in the snow (way better than the KO2), are taller, and are completely under the flares. I won't go back to wide tires with all of the great narrower options out there now.

I have experienced no odd wear issues on the KO2s though and the load C rating is nice. In the end, you'll be totally fine with the wider tres not eh stock wheels. But, I'm very happy there are more and more options coming out for narrower, tall tires.

FYI, I've also ran the Toyo ATIII 35x11.5r17 load C on my 2021 JL Rubi. Those were also REALLY nice, if you're looking for something in between the 12.5"/315 and pizza cutter sizes.

BFG KO2s, 35x12.5, on stock Rubicon wheels. Almost 9,000 miles and no issues. I do have the Mopar 2-inch lift, too.

sup bro, do you have an extra 2” lift from Mopar of just the original factory lift… Am asking cause I have a Mojave and it has the 2.5“ lift from stock, and want to run the 35’s…. will I need to add a 2” lift to ensure no problems?

I have the extra 2-inch Mopar lift, but it’s not needed for 35s on a Rubicon or Mojave. You’ll clear them no problem.

Stock height Mojave on 35x12.5 and no problem.
