This post seems to be nothing but complaining about price. AEV knows they will sell every single bumper they produce, at their price. From a business perspective, that makes it the right price. Just not the right price for you.

I purchased mine yesterday. Spent 3.6k for a complete front end w/lights. Having had years of experience with AEV all the way back before they took on Nth I've yet to be disappointed by any of their products.
cool. What is it going to do better than an ARB set up for half the cost?

people can say “i like it better” “i want to have the most expensive option on the market” “i like the exclusivity” and fine. But call it what it is. Not feigning that there is something about it that actually justifies the price from a performance or engineering standpoint.

ive been an AEV torch carrier for a long ling time especially on suspension. But this is fucking ridiculous.

edit- the only thing i might caveat is that if by “stamped steel” they mean that special light weight steel they pioneered for the bison skid plates. I understand thats a process to work with, and it would be a lot lighter than anything else. Id say even if thats the case its still on the high side.

Yes...wasn't what I intended when starting the thread! Was simply a PSA for the long awaited bumper which turned out to be "not the right price for me".

A big swing and a miss by AEV on this one with this kind of price point.

Don’t like the price don’t buy it. The price of Yeti coolers is another thing that causes a lot of similar threads on some of the boating forums I read.

A lottery for the privilege to spend that kind of money on a bumper. The economy is rolling. First world problems for sure.
It's a company held up almost entirely by retirees with money to burn so I'm not really surprised...

How are those $1K lights better than say $300 lights? (Serious question)

They have a name on them. They're 9,900 lumens between the pair (that's slightly more than BD Squadron Pro) and I know there are some cheaper lights like the ones that copied ARB that put out at least that much raw light.

If you want actual performance at that price, the BD LP6 lights have almost twice the output and are far more versatile with their IPT lighting and hi/lo mode. The Rigid 360 series is also just shy of the output of the BD lights but only have the basic functions at 2/3 the price.

A few things come to mind.

Pattern, effective Lumen, temperature (color) and chip means everything for performance. I've always been a fan of Light Force and an equivalent setup is about the same price as the AEV. So I'm going to give the AEV setup a run and compare.... It's kind of like not all replacement LED headlights are the same, some just perform better and usually cost more.

Boron steel is 4x stronger than typical steel as you've hit on. It is also more corrosion resistant to things such as road salt. Is it for everyone, no, not saying it is. All I'm saying is I have yet to be disappointed by any AEV product I've had experience with.

Spot on. Who are the participants in these really trying to convince.... Themselves.
