Side question...are the rubi shocks as stiff as the max tow shocks? Question being if op puts rubi shocks in the rear and tows could they allow for more truck bed travel under load, as apposed to the max tow shocks?
Shocks don't support the load or truck at all. The shocks won't impact the amount of load it handles or how far the bed will go down under load.
I can't speak to the Sport w/max tow, but the Rubicon shocks do take the softness or bounce out of an Overland. I have a more firm ride now, I feel some of the harder bumps more than I did, but there's no bouncy feel, it feels like it's more solid on the road.
Are the Rubicon shocks longer? I didn't measure them against the Overland shocks.

I’ve been wondering this, too, although I have an Overland and a Rubi takeoff suspension. If you just swap the shocks out does it take the bounce out?
Yes, it did on my Overland. The shocks alone, at least IMO, are worth the swap.

I put Rubicon springs under the front of my Overland,
Sport max tow springs under the rear to keep it from dropping so much with load and trailer tongue weight (NOT TO ADD TO PAYLOAD OR TOWING! Just to reduce the "sag")
and Rubicon shocks all 4 corners.
I like how it rides, less bounce.

Did you do the shock swap before the springs, or did you do it all at the same time?

Also, regarding the max tow springs, how did you find them and is the ride more stiff in the back?

I ask because I like the ride of the Overland for the most part, but I don’t like how uncomposed it is, say over railroad tracks. I think my plan is to just do the shocks first and see what we think, but your setup is intriguing.

I did it all at once. I sort of wish I had done shocks just to get an idea of the difference of shocks alone, but it made more sense to do it all at once as you have to unbolt at least one end of the shocks to replace springs.

The max tow springs I bought from a forum member. He likely got them as a result of someone with a Sport with max tow doing a lift, can't say for sure.

The ride over-all is a bit more stiff but not bad, really. Railroad tracks are rougher but not horribly rough.
My wife and I both like it for travel and errands and we rarely use our other vehicles now. There goes my low miles/year insurance discount!

Understood. I mean to say would the max tow shocks be stiffer than rubi. Like would they decrease the bounce in the rear end when the trailer is attached. Im a novice when it comes to shocks and compression ratios and all that.

Ok, thx! I think I will start with shocks and see how it responds. Thx for the feedback!

Picked up my Rubicon takeoffs this weekend and got them put on my max tow. The upgrade is worth every penny, its hard to explain the difference. I saw someone compare the ride before the upgrade to being in bounce house  that feeling is gone for sure with the upgrade. The one inch of lift in the front doesn’t hurt either, we’ll see how much I loose once I install my winch this weekend.

Do the shocks raise the height or the springs?

I installed the shocks... I was debating on the front springs. They have the same amount of coils? Did it raise the front? And did u just do shocks and springs?

Rubicon springs lifted my Max tow 3/4" in the front but I already had the Badlands Winch and a steel front bumper on mine. Some say it gives 1" of lift in the front. I kept my rears installed on mine because the springs are more progressive on the Max tow and I didn't want to mess with the towing on it. It definitely lifted mine.

Leave the track bar and control arms along on your Max Tow, they are no different than the ones off the Rubicon. Swap out the front springs only and leave the rear springs because the rear springs on the Max Tow can handle more weight when towing. Swap your Max tow shocks for the Rubicon shocks. All in all when I did mine it took about 2 hours total in driveway to what I said above. You will need jack stands and two floor jacks, this will make life a lot easier on you. A extra set of hands will help you out as well. If you decide to do it you will be pleased.
This is what I did now trying to figure out what tire and rim size to run on it?

Did the springs in the front help take out the harsher ride from adding the weight to front?

A little. It also added an additional .75 inches of lift to the front to help level it out mostly. Still got a little less than 1/4 inch of slope front to rear

What spring numbers did you install up front?
