With the merger and creation of Stellantis, there comes an immediate benefit.

Mobil 1 oil is now MS6395 certified! So those of us in the underground who have been secretly sneaking Mobil 1 into our Jeep engines can now come out into the open and bask in the light of freedom!

So, to celebrate, I put 5 quarts of fresh new M1 AFE 0w20 into my Pentastar, right out in the open, in front of people, with my Forever Wave flag flying from my CB antenna!

https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-vehicles/our-products/products/mobil-1-0w-20/

It hasn't shown up on the labels yet, but the website has been updated to reflect this change.

Looks like Stellantis swept aside the politics that have been there since about 2009 or 2010, or so that kept FCA from permitting it.

So all is well and peaceful again inside the sumps of my Wranglers!

So are people supposed to drain the non-certified Mobil 1 oil in their crankcase now and refill with certified Mobil 1?

Asking for a friend. ;)
I'm sure your wallet would not appreciate that!

MS6395 is a relatively low standard, not being nearly as stringent as Dexos 1 Gen 2 and probably nowhere near the requirements of the SAE SP/GF6 rating, either. According to a Mobil 1 rep with whom I spoke, their oils would have always easily met this standard, with no changes to the formulaton being necessary.

Commercial politics is the reason they weren't permitted to have the certification prior to this. Funny, though, FCA did permit their lower tier synthetic oils to have it, such as Mobil Super Synthetic.

Mobil 1 had worked well in all other vehicles I've owned, I never was in fear it would have caused the 3.6L V6 in my Jeep to seize up or an out for Jeep on any warranty issues.

Have been a mobil1 fanboy myself. Ran it in my LS cars and two trucks. This being my first ordered vehicle I was planning on sticking with everything manufacturer recommended. This puts me at ease haha

I haven't checked diesel oils, but I'd bet they will get certification, as well. Probably immediately.

I saw M1 5w30 in a 12 quart box on clearance for $36 today at Wallyworld. I almost bought it for my JK, but I've still got a huge stash of Shell Rotella Gas Truck that I got on clearance.

The 12 quart box of M1 AFE 0w20 was still 49 bucks. If they put it on clearance, I'll hopefully grab a box.

The $27 for a 6 quart box is a decent deal. I picked up a box of 6 0w20 AFE quarts at either Walmart.com or Amazon for about 22 bucks a couple weeks ago. That's what I just put into my JL yesterday.

Ive been running the M1 0W20 from Costco from the first change in 2015, ran M1 in various stripes since 2000.

I was never all that concerned about what The Dealer felt was acceptable. I've seen what we would get if The Dealer had their way; wolfs head recycled conventional.

My JK has the 3.8L motor, which takes six quarts of oil. However, the JT 3.6L motor only takes five. Why are folks posting in this thread about buying the six quart cases instead of the five quart bottle?

And, thinking of the five quart bottles, I bought one of Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic at Walmart. It was marked for $22 or so on the shelf. I get to the register and it rings up for $11. I tell the lady that's the wrong price, it should be over $20. She punches a few things into the register, looks at me and says that's all it is. I was tempted to go buy a few more bottles.
