Why are wheels so hard to figure out?

You should have an idea of width before picking rims, because that's going to impact it a lot.
To add to the confusion, COMMON tires are between 10 and 12.5” wide. Anything beyond an 11” (285mm) will technically require a wider than stock wheel. The bulk of after market wheels out there will fit tires from 285mm/11” to 315mm/12.50” wide reasonably well. The wheel offset will determine where the tire sits. Back spacing will drive you nuts, because a 8.5 and 10” wide wheel might have the same offset(for the same poke, scrub radius, tire clearance, etc) but have way different back spacing. Hope some of that helps.

So I am thinking that more info is necessary here to allow for better content.
My long term goal here is multi-stage. I plan on doing wheels and tires when the first set of tires are toast.
Then after pay-off (this is if I don`t get sucked up into Jeep fandom and buy another. Easier said the done judging on by my perpetual grin) doing suspension, and maybe a supercharger.
So, things could potentially change down the road in terms of tires, and I would rather be set for the long term and be smart $$ wise in choosing something that could adapt to future upgrades.

Then you will want something like a KO2 which is going to be a really nice on and off road tire that will do anything it sounds like you need.

Tire height on the JTO is going to impact gears. I have 35s on my JTO but I am changing gears soon. I would say 35s are fine if you live in a flat area. Hills or towing will struggle. 33's may be better for you. Given you aren't doing any suspension I imagine gears are out of the question. And if you tow or live in hills... maybe even 31s stock size.

The width of that tire is going to be a little driven by the fact you're doing this on no lift with the Overland. 12.5s will likely rub the control arms unless you get them outboard with a little extra backspace over stock.

If you did something like a 33 x 10.5 or 31 x 10.5 you should be fine with stock backspacing which gets you no poke. If you want poke go outboard and wider.

And imo go with 17" rims, much more tire options than 18".

It`s like you are psychic!
I looked at the same wheel in an 18" and it had a zero offset, but if it makes finding tires more difficult, then why bother?

Here are my stats, I just wished I could buy an oem fender that was about another 1” wider.

So I like the bronze, which is why I like this wheel so much.
My issue is the color tone with the sting gray, and it FOR ME could be a bit bold.
It looks good on lighter colors, but mine, not so much, (IMO) hence the "stained" version.
And for the record, looks awesome on the white!

I must have missed that you have an Overland.
If you even halfway like the factory rims, let me throw one more option at you......

Several members have put 285/70R18 (34x11 roughly) or even 285/75R18 (35x11 roughly) on the stock rims with great success. Here is one thread with many pics:

Since your plan is multi stage, this may tide you over until you get to the lift stage and yearn for taller tires and bigger gears.

How did you know which rims I was going to buy to go with my Metalcloak GC 3.5” lift??!? I was on the fence about that color but seeing it on your white JTR (like mine) I’m tipping over to gold ...

those are the same wheels I have

I have the narrow axles, I wanted Rubicon fenders for extra coverage but just never worked out. Narrow axles + Rubicon fenders chopper would have been ideal. But I will do the JCR which are almost as wide as non Rubicons.

Funny you ask that, my wife likes the wheels and did not understand why I wanted to replace them.
I have no problems with the look of them stock, but just wanted a bit more color on my JT. That being said, I could go stock and not be disappointed.

Being a married man, then you understand how money saved now can (maybe) be used for something else later. Lol

So I found a wheel I like that would probably be a great match for my sting gray paint, and the website says they will not fit the Gladiator:
Helo 901
Then I look at the wheel size, and wonder why? Maybe it`s the offset? So then I got to Wheel-Size and it shows they fit, with the exception possibly being the offset?
I truly did not know this could get so in the weeds......
Maybe the hub bore is why they say they don't fit.
